How's it going up there in the front range? My cousin just started at CSU this semester and she said they're open for classes today but are literally the ONLY school open due to the crazy snow fall except for UNC. How are everyone's horses doing in it? Is it as bad as they're saying on the news?

Grrr. I was planning to drive two hours each way and get hay this coming weekend, but South of Denver I have 20" of snow on the flat right now. Supposed to be 50 - 60 degrees next week so big melt (at least this WILL melt) and big mud. That 60 degree normal temp on the TV weather is starting to look like a joke. Snow is tapering but wind starting to come up. Soooo thankful for my attached indoor round pen where horses can trot around and I will dump stall cleanings for awhile so I don't have to try and pull wheelbarrow thru knee high snow.

well, let's see. It's still snowing sideways. I'm so bored I made my own whole grain pancake mix (yum!).

The horses are tucked away in the barn, except for one that you can barely see -- Tanager. He likes to stay out and guard the premises.

Got about 18 inches up here yesterday + overnight, but at least it stopped snowing and the sun is trying to peek out!
It was 4 degrees this morning when I got up!!
Horses are fine - I have one blanketed (TB) and the other naked (Mustang). The naked one seems much happier!! ;)

I remember showing at an AQHA show at the Colorado State Fair many years ago. It was late August. We woke up one morning to 4" of snow.

I'm just around the corner from LarkspurCO and it's pretty nasty here. I wanted to take some pictures, but all you'd see is snow blowing sideways. I just came in from plowing, and of course I got the truck stuck, but managed to get it out. What's amazing is that it started snowing Tuesday night at bedtime and is still going, and one report says it will keep going until bedtime tonight (so almost 48 hours of snow). The blowing is a problem, as it always is. I couldn't even tell if my road was plowed. It probably was, but then everything blew over it. I'm happy to stay home today, other than trips out to plow -- because of the wind, the snow just pelts you in the face.

The horses are fine, although they'd rather be turned out than cooped up in the barn. We've had a lot of snow already this year. Thank goodness it will be warm again next week -- then we'll just have a muddy mess.

Hey, THN, I think some of your snow blew over here. If it keeps this up it will all blow to Kansas.

;) I thought it was blowing here from the north. Whatever, I hope it blows off my driveway so I can get outta here later!

I am in Fort Collins, and it isn't too bad. There is maybe 2 ft of snow, hard to tell since it has been windy, but the roads and sidewalks are clear. I made it to my class (my other 3 were cancelled by professors) at CSU with no problems and made it out to the barn.

Yesterday was nasty since it rained before it snowed so there was ice under all the snow, made driving pretty interesting, and all my classes were before CSU closed.

Some pictures from today, don't really capture the amount of snow though.

I'm no longer in the Fort, but my brother lives in Lakewood and sent this picture of their patio :

This is about 17", which they got between 9am and 3pm yesterday. No school yesterday and today for them.

I'm in Golden and have about the same amount of snow as the above picture. I think we're at over 20" now - when I went to shovel my car out the snow was well above my knees.

The wind blew and blew and kept blowing all our snow down south towards the rest of you. We are in Wellington just north of Ft Collins.

You can still see the grass, and pretty much have been able to the entire storm. The interstate north of here has been closed, as is I80, I think.

My horses are both out in their waterproof blankets and my old Morgan who enjoys snow is having a grand time. My think coated appendix QH is proably hating it but he'll be fine

I am South of Denver but North of Colorado Springs so we got well over a foot of snow and it is blowing everywhere of course. Yet, this is the best part, I still got to go to work  We did get a delay, not that it really helped make the drive any better. Oh well. I'm glad I have a job. The silly part is that I work in investments and my department has an office in Maryland specifically so we don't have to risk our lives when there is bad whether here. But...I'm home now. definitely getting stir crazy as I desperately want to ride or workout; preferably both. I'm wishing I owned a pair of wellies as I have a feeling when all the snow melts tomorrow it will be disgusting. My dog thinks this is what hell is as she loathes snow and the drift in our backyard is deeper than she is tall

I'm stuck in the condo. Sounds like the highways from Aurora to Kansas & Nebraska are closed due to blowing snow. Took a cool photo of a 3 or 4 foot long snow shelf hanging out from the roof this afternoon. Tomorrow morning it might be even more spectacular. Hope I can get out of here tomorrow and visit the horses...
