Two Funny Things That Happened This Week...
On Monday, because of the rain, I had two of my boys in a smaller paddock. They are a 3 1/2 y.o. gelding and a 18 month old colt. They were forced to share a single water bucket. I went to fill it for them and the older one was being a bucket hog and not sharing with his buddy. He would stick his head in and play with the water and only momentarily move his head away to let the younger one get a sip. Then he'd stick his head back in and hog the bucket.
The response from the younger one? Well, he'd get his little sip of water and then raise up his head and gently drizzle the water out of his mouth down the front of the older one's head. They did this routine for a good five minutes until the 3 year old's head was soaking wet. It was very funny.
Then yesterday, I took a horse for a lesson. He's a rather good looking fellow... (seen here: http://pets.webshots.com/photo/2306002200048495570rQQRVR ) but I didn't know other horses thought so as well. So, anyway we enter the indoor area and get walking around and there's a 12 hand pony doing a lesson. It's a cute little thing, black with big star right in the middle of it's forehead. She's all business in her lesson and doesn't really notice us.
After she's done with her lesson and I've been trotting Aero around some, warming up, I come down to a walk near the pony and she starts whinnying like wild. She is staring at Aero and raising her head whinnying and getting more and more excited the more she looks at him! We're all laughing about it and wondering what in the world she could be saying to him. Then a minute or two goes passes and she starts showing to him and peeing and continuing to whinny. It was the craziest thing seeing a 12 hand pony want to make babies with a 17.2 hand gelding!
Hope these stories gave you a chuckle this morning!
