My horse has a cut on the outside of her front leg. I've been cleaning it everyday and putting hibitane ointment on it. It's been 17 days and has looked the same for the past 12 days.
I really don't want it to turn into a chunk of proud flesh (she already has proud flesh on a hind ankle).
What else can I do? Products to use etc?

How big of a cut? No need for stitches?

Less then a half inch long. I think she may have been running in her paddock and over reached and nicked it. The vet was at the barn a few days after she cut it and I asked him to take a look because at that point it was super swollen. He said it didn't need stitches.

sound like there might be an infection in it, so you will need a vet out to give you some anti botics also check your jabs are up to date, cold her her above the wound at least twice a day till vet appears
if in doubt always call your vet

My guess as to why it's not healing is because you arent giving it a chance to heal. I would say give it one last good clean but using a Betadine surgical scrub. It comes in a light green squeeze bottle im sure you know what im talking about, and make sure you are using a few clean gauze pads and wet the area first so it really sudds up. Next after the leg is dry COMPLETELY! Give it a few hours, then get the Alu Spray. Its in a small white areosal can and after you know that they didnt roll and get it super dirty spray a good layer right on. And if it bubbles you know it's doing its job. That will allow the cut to heal by not keeping it wet all the time. I think that what you did is correct for the first few days, but you need to allow some time for it to dry and the skin to heal up. :]

Here's what it will look like:

And again, i'm sure you know all of this, just looking at the situation that you dont know the products. Good luck! :]

I used the AluSpray on other injuries. Wasn't fond of it.
Perhaps I am cleaning it too much and not giving it enough time to dry up. I'm just so worried about proud flesh.

I am surprised you didnt have good results with AluSpray. What happened? We swear by it and it does wonders on our event horses. If it isnt fully dry it won't work. Perhaps that could have caused a problem.
