Your barn is absolutely gorgeous! Seriously, it looks like my dream barn. Is that cement in the aisleways? Do you mind me asking what the price range was to build it?

Thanks! I love it so much!!!

Yes, the aisles are brushed cement, so they aren't slippery. After boarding at two barns with dirt floors - ugh - cement was a MUST! We have rubber mats in the stalls though and eventually I may get them for the wash stall as well.

The thing I love about my wash stall is that it drains to the back. None of my horses have ever liked standing over top of the drain holes in the center of wash stalls, so having it drain to the back is AMAZING!!

Price range to build was about $50,000; the concrete pad alone was about $10,000, but worth every penny! We did save quite a bit of money because my Dad built the stalls and finished off most of the interior walls himself, instead of having the builders do it (gotta love Super Dads!).

Everyones' barns are so nice! :) Congrats to you all!!!

We had a new one put up this summer too.

http://pets.webshots.com/album/574206788AFAXdc

We are a long ways from being done but it's up and there are two stalls in now. When it's done, it will have 4 12x20 stalls, a 10x12 wash stall, a 10x12 feed room, a big tack room, bathroom, garage for my husband and an apartment in the 16x80 loft.

I can only assume it will take at least 4 or 5 years to get it to the point we want it.

This is our 4-stall barn - 36 x 48 w/two 12 x 48 lean-tos. The link has pictures from the time materials were delivered and on - looking at them I realize we don't have any "final" pictures: http://gregh.smugmug.com/Animals/the-Barn/5029490_T7yDt#430349140_EMwZZ

We built ours last year and it is so nice to have. It is something I had been dreaming of for years.

Lovely barns, everyone!

My smaller barn is 60'x30'and currently has only 3 stalls. Hope to add at least one more stall and a wash bay (haven't located inside pics...yet). The indoor is 138'x60'. When we first looked at the place, I went directly to check out the barns...heck with the house.

I have a 3-stall barn - it was here when we bought the property. I don't like this barn and have big dreams for my next place when I'll design what I really want. My tack room and crossties are separate from the barn area, although I do have crossties in the barn aise for grooming if I want to.

Here's a view of the barn from the house. On the right are two stalls, and on the left is the feed room and the third stall:

http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2051856790029199246GeuRdQ?vhost=good-times

Here's looking at the barn from the beginning of our driveway. This looks to "the suite" which is the side of the barn with the single stall. The area on the left is the additional hay storage room we built:

http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2956948580029199246QNeDoJ?vhost=good-times

We ended up with four horses...funny how that works...and since we only have 3 stalls, we (meaning my husband and neighbor) built a run-in shed across the driveway. Of course it is haunted or something, so no one actually wants to go in there:

http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2284131320029199246JeVqKS?vhost=good-times

We've made the most of this barn set-up, but it isn't ideal for me.

Awwwww, thanks! That's Skipper, aka Pippa, who is an old, partially blind, lame appy who is missing some teeth. I got him almost three years ago to be a companion horse b/c at the time my old companion had passed away and so I only had two. And everyone knows you must have three horses, and four is even better!

He was found roaming around a neighborhood up here so someone called animal control. They picked him up but at the time did not have horse facilities so they left him on the trailer. In August. For a weekend.:confused::eek: One of the volunteers at the animal shelter, where I also volunteer, said, This is BS - he's coming to my house (she has 80 acres and a gorgeous horse facility) and if anyone wants him back they can come get him. No one ever did. When I sent a note to all the volunteers saying I was looking for a companion, she wrote me about him and I went and picked him up! He is so cute - he calls to me everytime I open the front door and he talks to me whenever I'm around him. It is just a little huhuhuh, huhuhuh, but it is so cute!

Thanks everybody! We actually bought the 40 acres with the cabins for our son that has special needs...he loves the outdoors and thought that would be a great place for him as he grows older, knowing he will always be with us. It happened to be attached to the 11 acres where the big barn, riding arenas, etc... is . Our home with the small barn and 5 acres is actually just across the street from the big barn land. So, we are kind of spread out but very happy! Thanks everybody for the compliments- you all have gorgeous places, as well!

Here is mine, which was designed by Mr Trevelyan.

http://s712.photobucket.com/albums/ww126/arlubinsky/Winter%20Wonderland/?action=view&current=n1430178884_30257310_3007912.jpg

It's 34 x 36. 3 12x12 stalls with 10' center aisle and an open 12x24 area for storage, etc. 12x12 area was built into a tack room, but stairs to the loft take up a bit of space. There are double doors on each end of the aisle so we can move equipment right through no problem.

We did our own burshed concrete aisle, as well as the overhang where the stalls let out and another 12 x 36 area directly in front of that (between the overhang and the fence), which is my was rack.

The concrete was a long term project, but my engineer DH came came up with the idea of boarding off smaller 4x6 foot areas with pressure treated 2x4's and pouring the concrete inside those smaller areas, which basically enabled us to do 3 or 4 sections every weekend without totally putting the barn out of comission. He bought a small concrete mixer from Harbor Freight for around $250, I think, and that puppy has paid for itself and then some!

I have enough loft storge for abour 300 bales of hay. I'd have preferred to keep the hay stored separately, but zoning in our area pretty much limits the size and # of outbuildings, hence the design, which gave us the most bang for the footprint we were allowed.

I really love my barn. its wel built and efficient, but not fancy. On the list is doing another overhang off the back for more covered storage for things like the farm tractor, spreader, shavings, etc.

Ponylover, your barn is stunning! Looks like a similar layout to mine, but the elevation on yours is gorgeous!

Thanks! It is perfect for a few horses and hanging out in! It goes with our house - both the barn and house are original beams from 1770's barns that were in danger of being torn down, so the house looks like a barn as well! haha

It's definitely necessary up here if you can do it - between the bugs, mud, rain, and snow - it's really nice and I feel so lucky - never did I dream I'd have something like that:) and I'm thankful for it everyday.
