I have a 34 yr. old horse that the vet just recently visited to give him his fall shots. Took a quick look at him (I wasn't there the BO was) said that he is doing ok, very little muscle, and could benefit from Lixotinic. He didn't give the reason for that particular vitamin supplement. It is very expensive. Does anyone give this to their old guys?

One of the boarders at my barn does. He is 32yrs old. He is basically three-legged with a severely 12yr old contracted tendon on RF and hooves that abscess every other month. Horse is still fit as a fiddle, healthy weight, glossy coat, thick mane & tail. Atleast once a month we think he's done but he just keeps right on ticking.

i've had older horses that just tended to get anemic easily and that makes it tough for them to stay warm (among other things). So a hematone or Caco-liv supp seemed to help, and i would put red cell or lixatonic in the hematone class.
