Hello all!

I was searching the USEA for my dressage test when I ran across these programs. I remember the announcement of the Medals program earlier this year. I can follow the qualifications and understand that. The process sounds too easy though. Just write my competitions down and mail it in? (Specifically http://useventing.com/resources/files/docs/usea_medal_application.pdf)

If anyone has any experience with these programs, your knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

It is that easy. The Medal Program is based on the scores laid out on the link you have, and the Blue Ribbon Award Program is automatic now, based on the records kept by the USEA. There is more info on www.useventing.com, select Award Programs from the Competition drop down menu. Info is on the right hand column of the Awards page.

I sent mine in :)

We got a pretty certificate and a nice pin! Pretty fast turnaround too (but I faxed mine)

Go USEA

Me too! :0)
And when you get your pin, there is a small paper with it that says you are entitled to wear it on your lapel when you compete. I have a very nice silver one and I really would like to get that gold one!

I got my novice gold this year. It's nothing big just a certificate and a pin but I guess it is somewhat of an accomplishment...

I have never heard of this program. Is there an explanation of it somewhere...and pictures of the medals? Sounds fun!

lol. I'm totally a cheese cake and will do this too.
Guess now I have a reason to do three novices with the boy next year. I was only going to do two and that was for the purpose Trakehner Eventing Faturity.
See! There is the program doing it's job!

I had forgotten all about this program; thanks for reminding us :). It looks like Connor got a Novice gold and Mark a Novice silver :D. So, is it cheesy to wear more then one on your lapel ?

Yes, me too-- had I been .3 lower at one of the non KY Horse Park events I did this year, we'd have our Novice gold... oh, well... will have to work on Training gold!

Reopening this thread for a question- Are the scores lifetime or calendar year? For most of the dressage medal programs it's lifetime but then it's not even with a particular horse just rider.

Us, too! You will likely get T gold before us, but I believe it's do-able. Go T3D folks!

I think they are lifetime but it starts in Feb. 2009 - so competitions prior to that date won't count.

Reading this was very gratifying. Are you folks aware that this program was virtually created right here on COTH? I can't remember whose idea the pin-on-the-lapel was, but it was a COTHer's. I hope folks won't forget how it came about: by the people, for the people. Rock on, COTH! :)

We got two gold ones this year at N, one for me and one for the mare. You only get one pin with that but you do get two certificates  I'm a proud momma right here!

I just looked up the qualifications and I believe you do not have to register your horse for BN, but you do for all the higher levels. Is this right?

Nope :(

# A horse must be registered as required for the level at which it is competing. Horses competing at Beginner Novice must have at least a USEA Limited Horse Registration at the time scores are achieved.

Yep its that easy! I printed the form on a Monday and filled it out. My husband faxed it on a Tues and the following Monday I had my certificate and medal lapel pin in the mail!!
