I have a weatherbeeta orcian that is heavier than just a light sheet, but not a blanket with fill. I'm looking for an in between sheet/light blanket that will not get horse wet if he's out in the rain. This particular horse doesn't seem to mind going out in light/medium rain with coldish temps, but last night his sheet was soaked thru.

I don't really want to leave him unblanketed b/c I just gave him a bib clip.

Any suggestions? The turnout I have now is supposedly waterproof too. I do have a heavy blanket for him, but in 50 with heavy rain - it'd be too hot for him.

Rambo supreme lite.

weatherbeeta taka lite.

The Rambo will wick better as the weatherbeeta is hotter with the bellyband but it covers everything. You have to buy the unfilled neck rug separately. The rambo comes with it's detachable neck rug.

Look for classic coverups/horses in black on ebay etc. They are out of business but made great Goretex sheets/blanket. My older one is 7 years old and still 100% waterproof.

I love my Dover turnout sheets. The Riders International ones. I have used them when out camping when the horses had no cover and were in the pouring rain and they stayed dry. LOVE them.

Unfortunately just about any blanket will soak through eventually... if it's been raining long enough or hard enough. Least in my experience.

I've used Schneider's Aquanon sheets with pretty good success so far. But, I'm that person that rewaterproofs every spring too. My Dover Northwind (it's a midweight) has held up wonderfully to heavy, wet snow... as has my Shires Grand Prix and my other Schneider's New Britons.

If nothing else, get a couple sheets to rotate through. A sheet is a practical item, so having more then one per horses is not a bad idea.

Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

Can you use Camp Dri to rewaterproof turnouts?

All my blankets just came back from being cleaned and re-waterproofed. I think it's mainly b/c the horse just wanted to stay out in the rain - heavy at times and all night. But shortly after he was wearing it, it started to look like it was getting wet.

My other horse had his heavier blanket on and he was completely dry - But he also did not leave the run -in much last night :)

My guy is standing outside happily munching at the moment without a care in the world. It's raining quite steadily. He's wearing his Schneider's turn out sheet and he'll be dry underneath it when I bring him in. The sheet will be very wet of course but he always is dry. It would probably soak through if he stayed out in the rain longer.

It rained for 7 days straight here this month, and my new turtleneck turnout sheets keep my guys completely dry. Completely...dry. I am thrilled. The come in no fill, 100g, 200g, 300g and I think 400g. I have 1 300gm for a horse that wasn't moving around much and it is very nice. Keep her warm and dry last winter.
