Who would you recommend as an instructor in the PNW that is located within an hour of Salem? Or even better, someone that is willing to travel to the farm once a month to teach a couple lessons. She is on the hunt for an instructor that can help her with starting first level work and really make some progress, with an eye for hoping to reach second level within the next few years. Rider is ambitious and willing to work hard for what she wants, has her own horse - a 6 year old mutt-type mare (appears to be some sort of appendix, maybe? about 15.3 and decently conformed), working solidly at training level. They've hit a road block because neither one has any experience above training level, so knowing when the work is correct is difficult.

She's tried a few people and hasn't been satisfied - either they are unreliable, or the teaching style just didn't work. It would be possible as I mentioned to coordinate to schedule more than one lesson (at least 3-4 people) in a day for someone that could travel to her (she has a boarding facility).

Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated!

Ritter Dressage with Shana and Thomas Ritter in Eugene.

I think Eugene is a bit over an hour, but well worth the drive for training with the Ritters I'd imagine. At least worth trying a couple…

I have no idea of what else is available in that area, but if you can get regular lessons with Thomas (or Shana), you would be getting some awesome instruction!
