Looking for fancy brow band in black for a red bay horse--the one used for the black mare with red crystals clashes. I haven't done very well with search engines. Anybody have http addresses for brow band makers they like? I didn't find what I was looking for with Dover or Dressage Extensions.

Thanks!

For handmade custom browbands, Sue at www.chevalcolorado.com has some really pretty ones.

I have been buying browbands from Jayne Ann (HPF Designs) for a long time...she will even make one from your own bead string, which is what I usually do now...I use them every day and they have held up really well. Very reasonably priced, too.

This one is my favorite. It is quite subtle and elegant from a distance or up close and looks wonderful on any shade of bay, brown, black or chestnut with its wonderful warm colors and shiny highlights.

Ditto this! Jayne designed one for our chestnut mare and it's super!

I have an Equesport (the "Tuxedo" pattern) -- lovely on my black and white horse.

I have a People on Horses (custom) -- was for a dark bay, now using on my new bay.

The POH custom one is black "pearls" with blue rondelles between. Subtle color, mostly black.

Both companies were easy to work with, both have held up to daily use.

I had not seen these before. Wow! Some of them are really lovely. Does anyone know if they come in different sizes? I have a really big girl who needs a new tiara.

Ditto.
I had her make one for my gelding. I didn't want pearls and rhinestones.

It is made with bits of turquoise, silver and a brown stone (topaz?).

We're going to a dressage show this Sunday and he'll wear this along with a brand new swan-tail dressage pad.

You have to check out the beautiful work by Janet Quinn.

Her website is www.crownjewelsdesign.com

She can do beautiful gemstones in different cuts and quality. Also, if you like the rhinestones, she can do that too. She also has designs that allow you to swap bead strings. And the leathermaker she works with does beautiful, quality browbands. Check her out...she does the Chicago market proud!!

Call her! She is so helpful and will explain everything you want and need for that special look!!

   Thanks for all the prompt reponses!

I was asking about the bands for a horse that we will be showing at the Region 9 Championships. When I saw that Jayne at HPF Designs was from TX, I called and sure enough she will have a booth at the show in Katy, so I can see and try several types of bands. She says she will have over 100 bands with her, so the selection should be great and it will save me having to express something from out of town since we'll be leaving for the show in just over a week.

I've really enjoyed looking at all the other sites as well--so much lovely work! Ibex, I saved your stockties as a favorite for my Christmas shopping. And, thanks patina.marc for the Crown Jewels site. I LOVE the wire horse pins and am tickled to add that to my Christmas list for my trainer. The caps sound interesting too--wish a picture was available.

Mary Lou, you and I think alike--I'm thinking the colors of autumn for Zydeco, but I have a feeling, my daughter is going to be drawn to deep blue or green. Jayne was very nice on the phone and says she does custom work to meet your needs and does have different sizes, so she probably will have something to fit your 'woman of substance'. :D

Thanks again ya'll, for all your effort. I'll post a picture afterward so you can see what we chose and how handsome my boy looks. ;)

Diddo Cyndi!

I have her work and many of my friends do, too. She designed one for my friend's liver chestnut Arabian stallion and it looks *spectacular*. She balanced the beads with his color, his delicate head, and the "manly factor" because he's a stallion. She has great taste. J.

Yep, she does whatever size you need. I have a couple - all different sizes.

Hmmmmm...I wonder if any browband will make Tank Girl's big red head look feminine. I'm a little afraid of adding sparkle to her head. I was thinking of sticking with plain black. If she wasn't a chestnut, she would be having pink galore on her brow band even with her manly head!!

Invite,

Rubianna looks like a Tudor Queen to me. Check out the Henry the Eighth tiaras. She probably needs the briolet drop pearl in the middle, too!

I like the classic, subtle elegance of these - http://www.jerrysharnessshop.com/beadbands.html .

While many of the others are beautiful works of art and might work well for a mare, I have trouble envisioning them on a stallion or masculine gelding. I think my studly gelding would die of embarrassment if I put one of those "girly" looking browbands on him.

I found these to be really different and the best I have ever seen. The bead work is spectacular!

They are made by Christi Wood, The Baroque Horse, Equine Leatherworks and Adornments. I deal with her direct, but I don't think she has a website. However, I know her browbands and whips are for sale on this website: http://mahtowameadows.com/index.php?cPath=117

I found this person at the Developing Horse Championships last year....
www.simplechangebrowbands.com

It is a normal browband with a channel in it. It has a ring at either end. You clip two lobster claw claps of your "bracelet" that you design onto to rings and voila, you have your beaded browband. Take it off for everyday work or to clean. I purchased one browband and designed two "bracelets" to attach. I also purchased one for my trainer's mare...pink crystals with silver beads and white pearls.

This is such a great idea and so easy. I have tried the others and love POH's, but this just makes more sense to me for ease of cleaning and price.

These folks have been making decorative brows longer than everyone listed here and their quality is outstanding. These are bold designs suitable for a large head.

My red bay boy has the Otto Schumacher crystal mesh wave shaped browband in amber-gold tones suit him more than silvery ones i think.
I have the matching amber crystal mesh belt and stock pin from Schumacher too-you can never be too coordinated lol!!!!

Thanks.

These look like such a fantastic idea. I always worry about losing beads or not being able to get the browband clean enough. Thanks so much for the link!

Ditto for the quality and price.

Carnelian is a stone (and in my horse's show name). She incorporated carnelian beads (the exact color of my chestnut hence her name) into the browband with crystals. I was lucky to be there with her for the design process as it was at a show. I'm sure she can design something for you and let you see the string before it is incorporated into the browband.

I have an Equesport Browband and I get so many compliments on it. I haven't seen my exact one on their website, I think it is rather unique. It has these irredescent (sp?) beeds on it the seem to change colour in the light. Hues of Green and Purple.
