And they grade into their DWB registry the best German horses that they can buy. I think DWBs are great. And the idea is to have a horse who can both jump well and have dressage action as well. Something the europeans know how to breed for.

All of the registries use whatever performs, with the Holstein registry being the most exclusive. All of the Dutch and German registries have used SF and TB as major contributors. The KWPN stallion Concorde was approved in Holstein because he was such a good producer.

Well I'm in Maastricht right now and the only horses I have seen is one Freisian pulling a carriage and a whole bunch of Icelandic ponies out in a field eating.

Then you are not looking in the right places.

I was in the Eindhoven area and there were horses EVERYWHERE. From my hotel window I could see a pasture with youngsters (yearlings and two-year-olds), across the street from that was a small horse farm, on the other side of the hotel were pastures with broodmares and another farm and on the third side were some shetlands and a family farm. On the fourth side was the highway and 3 more farms on the other side of it. That is all within a .25 mile radius. On my morning commute (20 min) I passed many farms, some with dressage arenas, some with huge jumps set up and some looked like riding schools. Basically wherever I looked were either horses, sheep, ponies, or those weird looking cows (kind of like the halter qh's, here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nmkj5gq1cQU ) At first when I was driving from the airport to the hotel I thought those were huge pigs. (from a distance)

I can see where you thought that! That was an interesting video.
