Earlier this year, the zipper in one of my Mountain Horse field boots malfunctioned. It will zip all the way to the top, but then the teeth separate down below. MH has sent me new zippers, but they do not do repairs. I took them to our local shoe repair place, and the guy there said that replacing them would be pretty tough. Can anyone recommend a place I can send them to have the zippers done? Like I said, I have the new zippers; all they have to do is unstitch the old ones and stitch in the new.
Also, about what does this type of repair cost? Local shoe guy quoted me $75. I don't mind paying that much, but I do want to be sure it's done right.

Woody's in Wellington, Florida. They're the best.

I was just thinking today I should have had them re-sole my boots last winter!

Uhh, call Mountain Horse back. They should have a better solution than just mailing you some zippers. Like mailing you new boots.

The boots are more than three years old, so they are out of the 1 year warranty period. While it certainly would have been nice to get free new boots, I was not in any way expecting MH to do that. I thought it was nice of them to send the replacement zippers, and their customer service was very helpful.

I went to 2 different local shoe shops(zippers busted at different times) both did a excellent job and found a apropriate zipper( I dispise MH zippers) the latter shop matched the first zipper(the first was kinda far out of my way).
Ask your local shops, some of them may not repair tall leather boots because they dont want to ruin them. Replacing zippers they would do.
ask around your barn too, from that I know of another shoe shop and who cleans winter blankets.

Oh, for some reason I thought that they were almost new! Sorry!
I would check around with some local shoe places. My guy does zippers on tall boots for $25 ea. So I guess $75 isn't entirely out of line, if you're doing two....

There are a couple more local places I'm going to check. I'm just hesitant to have them done locally if the people don't really have experience doing it.
Thanks for all suggestions and advice!

I read a thread fairly recently where someone raved about George's Shoe Repair here in VA. I just sent out my eBay Great Buy (Derdaus for $40!) to get zippers put in them. Their address is; 5332 Fairfield Shopping Center, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. But they charge $125 including supplying the zippers and return shipping.
