View Full Version : Breeches for Short Folk

Is it just me or did more breeches used to come in short? I feel like I can't find any anymore and this is a problem seeing as I only ride in breeches. Oh, and I'm short. A short-legged short person at that. Sure, being short has its moments but I'm not too sure having the crotch of my riding pants being at least 2 inches too long is one of those pluses.
I think pants of the "short" variety may relieve my excess-fabric-from-upper-thigh-to-waist issue. But I am striking out. Suggestions?

I read that the winter breeches that smartpak carries from Custom Apparel run very short...

How short are you? I'm 5'4" (not tall) and I have to buy TS breeches in tall or they come halfway up my calves. So I would think the regular length would fit most short people well!

TS fit me fine in leg length but unfortunately that's not where I have a problem...it's the rise of pants I guess. Even low rise - there is just too much length there! I have to really hike my pants up and cinch them high around my waist to have them fit okay when I'm sitting in the saddle. Without doing that I literally have miles of extra crotch to waist fabric (attractive image, right?)
I have one mysterious pair of TS schooling breeches in a short length and those fit well in the rise. I just can't seem to find shorts anymore!

I'm 4'10 1/2" and have to generally buy kids' breeches, or else I have to roll them up. I will say that I love my Kerrits kids' breeches in size large. I need more of them. (:

I am short also, and I find the kids sizes in TS have a much shorter rise. The low rise is actually too low on me, which is crazy because I'm super short wasited.
They also tend to run a little bigger in the waist than you might think, so don't be afraid to try them on.

i'm short :D 5'! haha. the TS fit me perfect, and i find that the kids sizes which i generally wear are almost *too* low in the low rise version! granted, i have spider legs (well, for our compact size i mean, my legs are proportionally very long)
try the low rise kids sizes in the schoolies especially

I am 5.1 and I have to wear TS short breeches. They are very hard to find though which is sad since they fit perfectly. I had a tack shop order me six pairs this summer while I was in Colorado horse showing since they are so hard to find.

I am 5'3 and most breeches are too long for me. Get the Grand Prix Hampton, they are made for shorter folks!!

I'm 5' with no distance waist to shoulder, and matching short legs. Any TS product in short or regular fits me just fine. The "shortest breeches" I have are the Trophy Hunters, but I can't remember if I got S or R.

The answer is to simply use them as a second bra.
I'm 5'5", which is fairly average, but shortwaisted enough so that the regular rise TS go up awfully high on me. Not cute.

I too, found a lack of shorts advertised when I bought some new breeches recently. I ordered TS in the short length from equusnow.com. I don't think they were listed on the website, but they were able to order them for me.
