and is all settled in. With a HUGE thank you to Heidi (Woodlawn) for giving him a place to stay until my husband could make the run to go pick him up.

He's a 5 year old gelding, giveaway, about 16.2 by eye and bigger than he seems at first glance. He has a great walk and some serious suspension at the trot, but that's all we've seen so far. A pretty mellow guy. I think he'll look tremendous muscled up. He'll be getting the winter off to chill out and do some ground work and we'll hopefully begin working up to undersaddle work in the spring and go from there. The vet and farrier will be out on Wed to do a workup and evaluation.

oh, and for any TB guru's, the Jockey Club name is Sound Barrier (which I was pretty impressed with as far as JC names go and will prob be keeping) but poor guy doesn't have a barn name. Suggestions welcome. So far he's just "Dude". lol..thanks to the DH

oh, and pictures of course.

Awwwww, what a cute expression!

So of course, what about the obvious barn name of Barry? Or Bear-y, if he is a big teddy bear?

lol...Barry was my first thought but DH swears it just doesn't fit him. Bear might be an option as I think he's going to be a snuggler once he settles down. You could see the last couple days that when he was being scratched or his curiousity was peaked that he really wanted to be right with people.

How about Chuck or Yeager? Chuck Yeager was the first American pilot to break the sound barrier!

He was a delight to care for and a super sweetie pie! He is a gentle soul.

We called him Sounder when he was here - it's an OLD movie about a sweet soulful dog.

Glad to see him home - he is going to bring you a lot of joy.

Thanks Heidi.

Vet and Farrier appts got moved to today as they were out for another horse. Vet thought he looked great and passed all his flexions clean. We pulled blood for a CBC just to make sure everythings working properly. The farrier pulled his shoes and said he had some of the strongest feet he's seen on a TB. A little flat, but that was a result of the racing shoes and such. We're going to leave him barefoot if he can take it ( he was moving fine when he was turned out after his trim) and he'll get trimmed as needed.

He was an absolute star for both vet and farrier. One of my fav things about OTTBs  Had his foot up before the farrier leaned down.

I'd call him Yeager, as in Chuck (for breaking the Sound Barrier?) And he's certainly a looker!

I believe that "Yeager" wins. I'm letting DH take the lead on this one as this is the first horse we've had that DH has really taken a shine to. :) lol...DH (who is a WestPoint grad) decided Yeager would be a great name for a cavalry horse:lol:

Barrier.

Bear. I think I would call him "Bare" or "Bear" because its the short sound of his second name. I like "Bear".

I'd call him Barry for a barn name. He's very cute! I love the TB's :) Good luck with him!
