Yesterday morning, I got to do something I haven;t done all summer. Sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast with the old and then get in my truck and trailer off to a trailhead with Zanzer and cart.

The sun came up at 55 degrees (cold for us usually 76 this time of year) and we had a high of 70. I drove at a place called Fawn Rd Trailhead at Dexter Mary Farms, part of the Lake George WMA. We are between hunting weekends right now, so I was the only person in several thousand acres. We did about 9 miles in 90 minutes. The trails were mowed two tracks with pine trees along each side. Crossed a couple of creeks, saw deer, turkey and buzzards.

The roads had been bladed so were soft and nicely dirt.

The sky was saffire blue with a few wihite clouds. In the distance I could hear the rumble of Harleys as it is Bike October fest. Never more than 2 or 3 miles from a highway as the WMA is 8 miles long and only about 3 miles wide.

ONe of those gem of a day when everything goes well and you come home with song in your heart and smile on your face!!!

Oh My Yes!! The front was still arriving here yesterday morning with grey skies but by noon it was glorious!

This is what we survive those horrid summers for . Today it was mid 70's....

I'm glad you finnaly got a wonderful day! Your summers are excruciating, you deservea whole winter of lovely weather.

I don't know what hit us. We went from the death of summer to the depth of winter in just a few days. And the meteorologists haven't got a clue as to what's coming and when. They've been extremely wrong every hour since Thursday afternoon.

Sue, thanks for the lovely post. I was there with you in spirit. It's 40 degrees this morning in north Florida and minus the wind that blew us around all weekend. It's crisp and beautiful and truly our reward for making it through another long hot summer. My DH says there's extra oxygen in the air on these days and that's what makes us all feel so good. Major and Mickey are coming home tomorrow from a long pasture vacation while I've been building swimming pools and ponds and I can't wait to get them back in harness and head out into that quiet pine forest with the brilliant blue sky above. Life is good. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

We went from summer to winter this weekend, but today was beautiful. Finally at least got the carriage out of the trailer from the ND.
Happy for you it cooled off but it was miserable here. I had hoped to get a drive in but the cold and wind were too much for me.
