Yesterday morning, I got to do something I haven;t done all summer. Sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast with the old and then get in my truck and trailer off to a trailhead with Zanzer and cart.
The sun came up at 55 degrees (cold for us usually 76 this time of year) and we had a high of 70. I drove at a place called Fawn Rd Trailhead at Dexter Mary Farms, part of the Lake George WMA. We are between hunting weekends right now, so I was the only person in several thousand acres. We did about 9 miles in 90 minutes. The trails were mowed two tracks with pine trees along each side. Crossed a couple of creeks, saw deer, turkey and buzzards.
The roads had been bladed so were soft and nicely dirt.
The sky was saffire blue with a few wihite clouds. In the distance I could hear the rumble of Harleys as it is Bike October fest. Never more than 2 or 3 miles from a highway as the WMA is 8 miles long and only about 3 miles wide.
ONe of those gem of a day when everything goes well and you come home with song in your heart and smile on your face!!!
