My hunter/eq horse is boarded at a private barn this winter and I want to make sure they blanket and sheet him at the right temps. (btw- I live in N. Georgia). I don't think I will get him body clipped until mid november because I will not be showing until next yr. What temperatures do you blanket and sheet at? I have both... thanks!

Make sure you take into consideration the temperature of the barn. They vary. The barn I'm currently in stays about 20 degrees warmer than outside, and, coming from a barn that required a sweatshirt in the middle of summer, I cooked horses frequently in the beginning.

I'm in NE FL right on the Georgia line. My horses live out 24/7 and I do. not. body. clip. Ever.
I do have a barn but they only come in to eat unless it is really really nasty, like a bad Nor'Easter or something like that. I foxhunt and show.

Under 50, they get a sheet.
Under 40 they get a blanket.
Under 30 they get both.

Same in the daytime, if it's in the 50's and breezy they get sheets during the day.

I don't have any stable stuff, all my sheets and blankets are turnouts except for a couple of dress sheets and such for show.

My horses have coats so nice the flies slide off them and stay like that year round.
