He is 8, safe, and super sweet. No show record, not a great mover, but cute jumper...want for my 8 year old daughter to do local shows...possibly SS. I know that's not much info, but any idea?

How big and does he do lead changes?

I think your location, as well as size and changes will make a difference.

Just to put it out there, I was just looking at a small for a 5yr old student of mine. Has done some showing, lead line, W/T, SS with some champions and reserves, at locals and small rated shows.

They were asking 3500, which I thought was a steal, in the upstate NY area. All set to go and take the pony on trial today, when my clients suddenly pulled out last minute.

He does do changes-not auto though. fairly sure he's a medium but he doesn't have a card. We plan to measure him though
$3500 seems like a steal to me too?! U should send him my way ;)

Since your D is only 8 I would make sure to get one with auto changes. I don't know how the pony market is in your area, but I think for our competitive local shows here in SoCal people will still pay $10K or more for a great SS pony.

Med. not a great mover and not auto I'd say about 2500 in my area. If he had a show record with wins at rated shows with auto changes then more like 15K and if he had local wins but not able to show rated then about 7K.

Without a card and an official measurement it is really hard to price a Pony based on what even a real knowledgeable person thinks it would measure by just looking at it-you can get fooled. And the exact size does make a difference, even in the SS. A bigger Medium allows a little more time for the kid before they grow out of it and, especially with a not so good mover, more size makes the whole thing look smoother and then lines ride more easily. That can effect price.

But, this one with no show experience? Is OP so sure it would be safe with no show miles? Would haul, stand around for clipping and not go bonkers at the sound of a PA or at being in a small ring with 20 other Ponies ridden by semi competent kidlets?

And with no auto changes for an 8 year old with not much experience?

1500? I just don't see alot of value in this market with no real size measurement, no show miles, not a good mover and having to have a rider who can squeeze the changes out of them.
