Ok. I know this has been talked about a lot, I'm sure, but the search function just doesn't want to play. So, say you have:

• one, brand spankin' new, Bobby's bridle + rubber reins
• one can of pure neatsfoot compound
• one can of hydrophane
• one "tub" of mink oil
• glycerine based tack soap
• leather CPR
• "yellow" soap
• ivory soap (I've heard it works wonders; though I'm still reluctant to try it out)
• various sponges/polishing rags
• a bucket and some elbow grease

What, exactly pray tell, do you do to get that pretty, yet stiff, leather working exactly the way you want it to?

(or, if anyone wants to be a dear and point me to a thread that has already beaten this topic to a pulp, please, don't hesitate )

Thanks!

Is this the more expensive or the regular Bobby's?

I have used good Stubben liquid glycerine, warm hands and a bit of light kneading. Don't work too much to quickly or you will weaken the fibers in leather.

Hydrophane. Two or three coats. Then saddle soap. Then ride and clean religiously with saddle soap after every ride for a while.
