Tried a friend's saddle recently because I'm saddle hunting. Horse needs a wide tree instead of the medium that I've got. I thought this saddle fit decently but after a few rides, it would shift from side to side depending on which direction I was going. I tend to put much more weight in my outside stirrup.

What would make a saddle shift like this? Assuming the girth is tight ;)

How is your horse built? DD's pony is very round, with NO withers to speak of. Great for bareback, not so much if you're trying to get a saddle on that won't slip.

She's pretty round but I've not had this problem with any other saddles.

Yep. I can shift a saddle by stepping to hard into my outside stirrup. That's a hard habit to break :( Still, saddle fit is very involved.
