I have been working my very very sensative huge moving TB in a simple jumping hackamore (this is the one I've been using http://www.horsetackco.com/jumping-Hackamore.html?currency=USD ) and his dressage is improving by leaps and bounds. I know that they are currently not allowed for dressage, eventing or regular, but I think I had read in a post that there was a petition to allow them? Or maybe that was for regular dressage? I know I am going to have to put him back into a bit for show season, but he goes so well I really don't want to:lol:

haha.... tooooo funny..... been a long time browser of COTH... joined up today posting a question..... was checking and saw yours!!!!! My TB stallion has the worlds smallest mouth and no LEGAL bit fits- well Ok no bit fits..... he goes very welll in the same hackamore in your photo! LOVES it..... super light and responsive, and this is a big TB stallion, i even use a piece of sheepskin on the nose, that is how good he is in the rig. in an normal bit he is a BULL!! wont canter and hates any rein aid..... i almost gelded him because of this and didn't , he is a lovely horse with a great jump so will aim him for the jumper ring and hope like heck that the dressage world wakes up!!!!!

good luck and you are not the only one!!!!!

For as long as I have been following the rule change proposals, there is a proposal to permit hackamores or "bitless bridles" in dressage (regular and evneting) every couple of years. They never get any support from any of the committees.

I doubt that it will be any different for the latest
