I wish I could afford a 2nd horse right now! I just heard these horses are free from the New England Thoroughbred Retirement Center in New Hampsire. (They normally only take donations but they need to re-home these guys before winter)

I love, love Red Matador and Talent Scount. Nice pedigrees too! Check them out!

I love Red Matador and Silver Scamp's pedigrees. According to Pedigree Query, Silver Scamp had 158 starts. !!! If he's still sound after that, he must be made of iron.

And take a look at their mare, Countess. Now that's interesting breeding for eventing.

Danzig and Lycius. I know some people don't like the Mr. Prospector, but I always have, especially the Lycius offspring that I have known. Danzig is my absolute favorite. I actually called about him, but he has a slab fracture in one knee so is probably only suited to flat work.

I'm with Viney on Countess - Sadler's Wells AND Laurie's Crusader? Wonder if she moves as well as she's bred to... wonder if she's breeding sound...Fred... are you listening?

All of their available horses are free? Where'd you hear that?

Silver Scamp is a great guy - I got to visit with him a lot when he was still at Suffolk. A bit grumpy, but adorable and always ready for a peppermint :)

Yep! I spoke with them and visited the horses. Nice place. My understanding is that their normal adoption fee is a donation, but they have about 6-7 horses and ponies that need to be re-homed before winter. They are willing to waive the donation if a good home is found.

I saw Scampi - what a funny horse. He was like a playful puppy, trotting over to say hi and to ask for a pat (or a peppermint?), then trotted off. Apparently he has quite a sense of humor, lots of energy and yes, sound. I can attest to the 150+ starts = sound horse. My former TB had 152 starts, 25 wins and retired sound at 10. He evented low levels until 20, and never had an injury or absess while I owned him. :)

Red Matador is really nice in person. Looks taller and shorter coupled than in the picture. And sweet. I loved Talent Scout - gosh is he cute! Very flashy too. And Border Disorder is better in person than the pics. I guess with the knee chip he shouldn't be jumped, but he has nice movement. Hail to the Thief is also nice and well built.

I saw the mares-- one was a broodmare. I wonder if that was Countess? She was really nice.
