Lexington,KY -suggestions for Llama vet

I need to have two young llamas castrated. Does anyone know of a vet in the Lexington area that works on llamas. My horse vets would do it but they really have no llama exp. and I want someone who knows llamas.

I saw Dr. Scott Hopper (at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital) cut a llama with colic one time...you might be able to talk him in to doing this, but I have no idea what he would charge...

I do know Dr. Beth Johnson in Boyle county had to amputate a llama's leg a few years ago. Don't know how much else she's done with Llamas.

My college roommate and best friend is a vet in Nicholasville. She has a lot of experience with reindeer, lamas, alpacas, etc., but their clinic is no longer doing large animal work. You might give them a call and see who they are referring their old lama clients to- Animal Hospital of Nicholasville, (859)887-8086. Good luck!

Didn't know that Norm Evans is in KY. He's pretty well known and has written a very comprehensive book on caring for alpacas & llamas. Never met him, but based on his book, I'd go with him.

I will second Dr Kendra Ewalt at Central KY Vet in Paris, KY. They are wonderful Dr's and have a great staff. Can't reccommend them highly enough
