I believe this is the correct name of the show. Dressage was soggy, I think some people did stadium, the rest was cancelled due to rain. Anybody go and home yet?

So sorry to hear about this. It was a smart - though tough - decision to make. Shades of the AEC's last year!

Some of the girls in my barn went and were back this morning. We are less than an hour away. They said the mud was unbelievable. It has been a really unusual weather this year and I can believe it. We are stuck inside riding because the outdoor has been flooded for the last couple of weeks.

I was there! Arrived on Thursday around 3pm and they were hauling people into the event with tractors. They got probably close to 1.5" of rain between thursday and friday. Sandy and Tom Mercier did EVERYTHING they possibly could to keep the event going. They moved the dressage rings from the grass to their indoor and outdoor arenas. They tried to switch the order of xc and stadium, but the ground just couldn't handle what mother nature threw at it. The horses were standing in wet stalls, the ground was saturated, soaked, and slick.
The Mercier's really tried and they as well as the volunteers deserve a huge thanks! They even got the restaurant who was catering the competitor's party Saturday night to come early for lunch since it was going to take awhile for the tractors to pull everyone out.
Should be a great event next year if there isn't a monsoon!

Awwww, I'm sorry to hear this! I'm a Hunter Oaks boarder alumna, and I was rooting for everything to go well. I know the Merciers must be disappointed - this was a big year for the event. :sigh:

I got a call Friday morning from a friend of mine who was supposed to compete there. She was in the process of being towed out since she called it a day due to the weather. I am also a HO Alumni and almost flew out there from SC for the debut of the new show stuff but couldn't due to $$. such a shame, I was hoping the event would go great. No ones fault, you can't predict the weather! Tom, Sandy and the whole HO crew are the BEST people! Hope it goes better for them next year.

I was there and it was a nasty mess! Managed to get through dressage. It was almost miserable but the girls I was with managed to make it a good time regardless. Was disappointed the event got cancelled but due to the massive amount of mud. I could understand their decsion. Here's a pic to give ya guys an idea of what we were dealing with. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/photo.php?pid=35960994&id=37607096
