This is Bella -

in the first pic she sees the horse eating monster dog..lol..same one that sleeps right outside her stall door, but gee, he looks "different" in the bushes!

and here is another of her.

my son took these and I thought he did a pretty good job since he isn't a "horse" photographer.

Anyway, she is doing well and trainer rode her lightly today at a walk and trot and no sign of lameness anywhere. We are taking it very carefully with her and she is loving all the stall time and treats in her bucket. She appears to be a black bay now that she is out of the sun and may darken up a bit more. She is not a black as she was faded out some when she arrived and true blacks as I understand, stay black regardless of the sun.

At any rate, I am so enjoying her and the trainer is nutz over her.

Great looking mysterious girl!

Glad your trainer likes her and hope she really does well for you.

Maybe good deeds don't go punished? You took her in as a rescue, and maybe she's going to be a star!

Thanks everyone, she is not such a mystery mare anymore - I did get verification that she can't be registered as her dam is an unregistered TB mare, but her sire is Donatelli. Even without papers, she is still a loving and sweet mare and I hope she does well over the winter and my trainer can show her in the spring at some small dressage shows.

Lita is doing very well. She got new shoes, wormed and is on Senior feed with rice bran and alfalfa pellets. She does one hour a week broken into two days - 30 minutes of sit, hold the reins, around the world, a bit of walk on the longe, a lot of learning to lead in hand, and a tiny bit of trot. Then she's brushed down and turned out to roll - she is the favorite of the grandson but Bonnie is also getting a lot of attention and the little girl loves Lita too, she isn't scared of her and likes that "Lita goes slow" at the walk.

I'll get some pics of her if it doesn't rain tomorrow - she's a real great old mare and perfect for her new job here. Never has to work very much and she gets along with Bonnie and Tyranna. Today I turned Tyr out with her and they ate hay together.

Bella is the only one I can't turn out with anyone as she is quite the alpha mare and will kick, so she gets to only touch noses over the fence line. She does seem pretty content with that and so I'm not taking any chances of a random kick. My other horses are very low in the pecking order and so they get to go out together occasionally and get along great.
