US Rider does not cover commercial vehicles (like your trainer's 6 horse) only personal vehicles. Does anyone know of a company like US Rider that does commercial? The slightly confusing part is that she is not commercial like the big shippers - she just ships client's horses to horse shows, never "outside" horses.

Then there's no reason US Rider wouldn't cover her. I have their coverage, and had it when in a similar situation to your trainer - hauling clients' horses as well as my own.

It's my understanding that they cover any vehicle/rig that you and your horses are using. The insurance goes with the person - not the vehicle. I know because I have coverage for my daughter. She rarely hauls horses, but she's out of state and it makes me feel better to know she has such comprehensive coverage. Once she had to call USRiders when her boyfriend's car had trouble and she was a passenger.

We sent in our renewal and they sent a letter back saying they had determined that we are a commercial shipper and they don't cover that activity. Maybe I should call and clarify what type of shipping we do.

I just got on US Rider's website and it specifically says that a trainer who ships her clients' horses is considered commercial and not covered.

That stinks! Maybe they might have a suggestion for a provider of similar coverage for 'commercial' services? I guess they figure that a trainer/commercial hauler would have insurance...
