Hello! this is my first time posting, so please bear with me. I've been on a break from riding due to school and such. I've recently moved to Lakewood, Ohio and don't know any barns in the area. Can anyone help me? I previously did H/J for almost 14 years. I don't own a horse right now, but would be interested in leasing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Not much on the west side, sorry. The majority of the H/J activity takes place on the east side with shows at Andrews/Osborne Academy and Chagrin Valley Farms on a regular basis. Lots of H/J barns on the east side. You will probably need to drive a bit to find what you are looking for, but there are several good trainers on the east side.

Hello,
There are several good H/J barns in Medina, which is southwest. What type of horse are you planning to lease? A ready to go showhorse or more of a greenie. I have several very nice H/Js that I'd love to have someone ride...I have NO time, due to my job. Send me a message if you'd like more info. I live on the east side, but we could work out a place for the winter.

Rocky River Stables is on the westside in the Metroparks. Blue Ridge Farm is in North Ridgeville. These are not necessarily H/J barns but it's a start. There are quite a few barns on the west side, they just don't get as much publicity since almost all the horse shows are on the east side. Take a trip to Valley Tack in Valley City on 303 and check out their bulletin board and talk to the clerks, they should be able to give you lots of info.

Petrie Show Stables, Ridgewood, Rose of Sharon, and Stoney Ridge Stables all do the hunter/jumper and are all in the Medina area. They would probably be 45-60 minutes of a drive.
However, there are tons and tons on the east side that would probably be closer to Lakewood.

I used to ride at Holly Hill near Westlake Ohio many years ago (about 15 lol). It was a great facility and I loved the lessons

It's not far from lakewood, took me about 20 minutes I think to get there. I used to live right on the Lakewood/Rocky River border.

I agree that the H/J scene is on the East side.

In Medina, there's also

if you're intersted in more than just H/J. Solange doesn't run a show barn, but you'll get an opportunity to Foxhunt if that takes your interest.
There's currently quite a few boarders and even opportunities to lease or even buy if that's what you're primarily interested:)
