COngratulations - it is so much fun being on your own land! And sympathies for all the fencing, water-piping etc that you (may) need to do.
We are just into year 3 on our own land - still a long way to go!! - but I do not regret it for a moment.

Congrats, Catersun.
I've never been more happy, or more tired!
5 acres of land with a house and barn take quite a bit of work, but I wouldn't give it up to board again for anything.

I hope you love it as much as I love mine! It's been an adventure, a joy and a roller coaster ride. Wouldn't trade a minute!

I bet your feet won't touch the ground for long time.:)

Congrats! There's nothing quite like the feeling of having your ponies at home with you entirely in control of their care and well-being. Enjoy! :D

And the first morning you wake up to the sound of horse hooves in the pasture you will need to be pinched again!
Congrats.

Dont worry, the "pinch" will come when you start realizing all the work ahead of you!:yes::lol: But it is cool that first night! Just get a good nights sleep, cause you'll need it when you start building barns, putting up fences and all the other fun that goes along with your own place! :D:winkgrin:

CONGRATS!
I couldn't believe it actually happened when we finally sold our house in NJ and settled on our current one, which is an old stone farm house on 10 acres. Then the reality set in when I realized how much work there is to be done lol!
I still love it, and every project is extremely rewarding:yes: We haven't even started on the horse aspect of the property- four years later still updating the house and "garage".
Good luck, enjoy and post pics!

Congrats Catersun! Can't wait to see the pics, then of course, you'll have to submit your fencing and barn plans for the entire COTH community to collaboarat on!
Its a lot of work, but so worth it!

I look forward to that tre...
Equinelaw... it's been worth the wait. This property is sooo peaceful.... it will be even better when the gates are up!
It's not quite 4 acres, some of it is very brushy, so we are hoping to clear the property line, fence it off and let some goats loose on the brush. We have a wee little pond... and get this... a shooting range! I guess it's time to at least get a .22 or something. The house is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
The fencing plans are noclimb wire up 48 inches and two strips of wide electirc tape to bring the fence up to 5ft. Should discourage dogs and people... or at least that is what we hope, and be visible enough for the equines. My current herd aren't fence testers so I think we should be fine.
We got the hens here... but the rooster has escaped capture... so hopefully he'll be joining us today, as are moving the chickencoop and the last part of my daughters play set.... yes.. the one that was installed in the front yard if anyone recalls. It will be in the fenced in BACK yard this time. ;)
Thanks for all the well wishes ya'll... when I get a chance, I'll post pics.
edit; as of 2pm sunday afternoon... the roo has rejoined the flock ;)

I feel the same way, six years after we did the same thing. I hope it's the same way for you and keep on feeling like you've found your peice of heaven!
Except for fencing. That is NOT a blessing.
Congratulations!
