I've always wondered how the inner training track is used.

- Is it only for galloping?
- How do you get to it in the mornings?
- Is it also a synthetic surface?

You can work on it. Darrell Vienna only works on it and not the main surface.

By tunnel

Nope.

Ditto. And it is the safest dirt surface I have ever been on. Vienna, Bill Spawr, Marcello Polanco, Carla Gaines will work sets of young horses, It is what ought to be on the main track now. Very few horses are injured on the surface. It is a great training surface available to the So Cal horsemen.
Darrell will work on the main and the turf as well. Depends on the horse. BUT mainly is on the TT.
Dick the rules on the TT are the same as anyother track, Back tracking is allowed, Gaines jogs forward on the TT, Carava backs all of his up 2x. Galloping and working, same rules apply, don't gallop on the fence, yada yada yada...
The only time that changes is in the rain when there is more traffic on the TT than the main especially if the cones are up. The main is then open to joggers only and the TT is for gallopers, there is no back tracking on the TT in wet weather.
It dries quickly, it's good in hot weather, it is kind to the horses. Allround good surface
