I just moved my horses home this weekend. I had planned on using shavings and pellets for bedding, but noticed an ad in the local horse publication about cardboard bedding. It's about half the price of the pellets. I searched here and seems people have only written about hating it. Has anyone used it and liked it? Horses will be in about 8 hours a day, and floor is rubber mats over stone dust. Plan on hauling manure pile away in a dumpster 1-2x/year. I have one gray horse and a bay (I heard there might be ink on the bedding). Thanks for any info good or bad!

When I have used it it never had anything on the cardboard. I used Hunt Club bedding. I really like it and a added plus don't have to get bedding out of tail. Don't have to deal with dust. I found the horses seemed cleaner as well. However it cost much more and that is why I don't use it.

I suggest if you want to try it you contact someone in the Recycled Fibers Business. I work in the paper industry, and know you can get it for CHEAP!! There are hundreds of grades of paper, and several would make decent bedding. Think $55/ton delivered.

We used cardboard bedding at a barn I was at. I liked it. It seemed like an affordable, enviormentally friendly product.
