I need to get my guy a new light sheet. It's been awhile since I had to shop online for one, and am looking for suggestions.

It needs to be light-weight (for Fall nights once he's clipped, then in the spring when his coat is coming back; as well as for *really* cold winter nights putting under his heavy waterproof winter blanket).

The last one I had was fine, but the shoulders didn't fit well, so he had to wear a shoulder-sleezy underneith or he'd get rubbed. I'm trying to find one that he WON'T have to wear a bra under.

I'd prefer not to spend an arm-and-a-leg, but something of good quality is important. He is good to his blankets (doesn't tear them up), so if it's good quality, it will last for years on him.

I typically buy from SmartPak, Dover, or Stateline. However, I've heard that Sneider's (sp?) is good for blankets, too? I'm open to whatever place I can order.

Anyone know what Western Saddlery in Pleasanton has? Shaw's is too spendy for me usually, and I don't think Blue Horse has many blankets yet after their move (but will check).

Thanks for the suggestions!

Are you looking for a stable sheet or a turnout sheet??

Cotton stable sheet (not waterproof). :) He lives in a stall/paddock combo, and I already have a waterproof heavy blanket for when it's rainy or cold.

We are in the San Francisco Bay Area, BTW, so I need the sheet for times when it's in the 40s or so at night, once he's clipped. He'll be in it 24/7 once he's clipped & I've started blanketing (until it's cold/rainy enough for the heavy blanket).

I've bought both polar fleece and 100% cotton waffle weave light blankets and really like them. They each typically run under $30. I prefer the cotton one as the fleece one really retains the hair. Of course, the cotton holds stains a bit more, so I generally buy them in dark colors.

They make great "liners" to a heavy winter blanket as well as a light "jacket" in not so bad weather.

I use Centur sheets! They are cotton and comfy. My horse is pretty hot natured, so he wears this sheet quite a bit.

I just wash and hang over my deck and they're ready to go.

He has a blue plaid and a purple plaid and both have pink in them, so everyone likes to make fun of his sheets.

He's a dark bay, and I think they look great!

Oh, and I have had them both for almost 5 years.

The best design to avoid shoulder rubs, IMO, is the Hug style closure. I think State Line Tack sells them under name Abrazos? Dover has them too.

I second the Centaur sheet comment. They do look, wash, and wear wonderfully well.

I have a WB cotton blend sheet that's held up very well, and it didn't cost a whole lot. That was about 5 years ago though. As for Centaur, I do have one of their wool dress sheets, and it was an awesome value for the money. It sounds like their cotton sheets may be a bargain too.
