I have been a daily reader of the Chronicle Forums for many years, so I feel like I "know" many of you already. I never registered since I was worred that by acutally posting on the site, I would waste that much more time on the Forums instead of working! In any case, I decided it was past time to come on out of the shadows and say hello.
A little bit about myself... I live on a small farm in the beautiful soggy Pacific Northwest, in eastern Snohomish County. My herd is down to 3 as I just sold one last week. I've got an APHA mare, a Nokota Draft X mare, and my DD's Quarter Pony. I spend most of my horsey-time involved with my daughter's riding and Pony Club; however, I'm trying to devote more time to my own horse interests.
We are very fortunate to live close to Polestar Farm, and have Meika Decher as an instructor (as many of you know already - she rocks!). Aside from the Pony Club disciplines, we also like to do family trail rides and I have hopes of trying competitive mounted orienteering one of these days.
I look forward to posting - and not just reading!

Welcome aboard.
Posting isn't going to take any more time than lurking, you know. At least that's what I tell myself! ;)

Welcome! I was just at Polestar last weekend for a derby - it is a beautiful place! I live up by the Pilchuck tree farm, in Arlington.

Welcome, former lurker.:)
Oh, I also lurked for several years, but once starting to post, I had much to say, as the slaughter debates were in full force then, with the slaughter bill being written.
As you can see, I did some catching up in a hurry on the posting.
It sure doesn't take any longer to post than to read only, unless you have much to say.

How exactly does a horse person stay quiet for so long whilst reading this board? You must have SOME willpower!

Greetings from COTH's resident Communist Party of Two. Do have any spare men for auctioning?

Always good to have a fellow Mossy Backed PNW Horsewoman on the board! I'm well south of you, but my SIL has ridden at Polestar and raved about it. Welcome, may you have many years of happy posting.

Thank you for all the welcoming! You are correct, it IS much more fun to post than to just read. As for keeping silent for so long - I wrote plenty of posts in my head, but I just never published them.

We must be neighbors! I live about 5 minutes from Meika's off Getchell Road and have taken lessons with her as well as riding in the last 2 derbys that were recently held there. Cool! Welcome welcome! I agree, Meika is awesome and about the nicest person you'll ever meet.
Kipster, what level did you ride? I was in B/N and tied for 7th (oh well).

Mtn Trails - Congrats!
I rode BN also!! I ended up 5th. It was a weekend of fun!
Did you ride in the clinic on Sat? That was the first time I had ridden with Meika and she was great!

Mt & Kipster - What a small world! The derby back in late August was put on by my Pony Club (French Creek) and boy was that a successful fun day. We actually had a waiting list and had to turn away people that wanted to ride. We'll be putting on another one at Polestar next year.
Mt - I'm sure we've seen each other. My DD is one of the few youngsters (age 10) that takes lessons there, so we're easy to spot.

Congrats to you too Kipster. No, I didn't ride in the clinic although I did want to but was unable to financially.
Pilchuck - you and your DD didn't happen to go to the prize ride at the tree farm the other weekend did you? I was there by the woodstove and a woman with her young daughter were over in the corner and they mentioned that DD rides with Meika and were at the French Creek Pony Club derby. Was that you?

Small world indeed. Yep, that was me in the Mylar bits hat that was talking about eventing with another gal and you spoke up about your daughter and said I looked familiar. Funny. Are you going to come to the prize ride on Oct. 24 at the tree farm? My chapter of BCHW is putting on their annual Halloween Prize ride. It's great fun.

Welcome, and ... I do that too! I might write something and then just hit the back button and don't post it. I do that frequently.
