Calling all SE Iowa and DesMoines COTHers! Sparky Boy is Visiting!

Sparky Boy is headed out to arrive in Cedar Rapids about 4:30 p.m. on October 8th with DH. She'll be staying in Fairfield; they leave on October 12 at 10 a.m. She and DH will be touring the area south of DM around Ottumwa and Fairfield. It's time to give her an Iowa welcome. PM me if you're interested in a get together, where and when would be a good time/place that weekend. I don't mind driving a bit, and in fact there is a horse in DM that I would like to look at.

Sparky Boy, you would be a terrific addition to the Iowa COTHers! I have just the real estate agent for you when you come back this Spring to look further north around Des Moines or Iowa City. We'll be sure to show DH the buck of his dreams. So glad we met, and it was a great excuse for us to all get together and meet one another.

We definitely need to do that again -- I didn't really get a chance to talk to everyone since I ended up talking deer hunting and military politics with the spouses more than horses with the wives! What fun to meet great new horsepeople, if there is an IowaCotHFestTheSequel count me in!

GrayCat, thanks for being such an excellent organizer and host. And thanks for driving HH, it was really nice to spend some time with you.

You just have to tell us when you will be in town! We had name tags and a big table of 9 going. What we didn't have was pictures of horses to swap, which will be mandatory for attendance at the next fest. :lol:

In fact, I think we may have quorum for a potential mini-event set up at Catalpa Corners if I can get it organized before (more) snow falls. There are four of us who would just like to get together to jump the easy part of their course with a trainer to supervise - if we haven't fallen off the horses in laughter.

I'm in Iowa - just west of Des Moines. Would love to meet some folks. Waterwitch (I think she posts mainly in the Hunting and Sport Horse Breeding forums) is another Iowa COTHer....she's over in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area.

I come out to that area for work, so if I know about something with a little notice I can make it a work trip :)

Well, add me to the "mailing list"....I'm normally home sometime between Thanksgiving and Xmas and once in the summer depending on when my brother and his wife are home from Iraq. I am usually based in CR when I'm home but can travel a couple of hours in any direction.
