Well I told everyone the saga of Bonnie the pony and then getting Lita the older horse cause little girl was timid and Bonnie needed training, etc.

Today my grandson and little girl took a lesson together. Little girl rode Lita, grandson sat on Bonnie and did simple things like learning how to hold the reins, airplane, how to sit properly, etc.

What a beaming laughing pair of children. Little girl was so timid at times she never said a word, now she is turning into a chatterbox who trotted on the longe line today on Lita.

I think my idea of having another child ride is helping little girl, Bonnie has her "fearless" child pilot to help her, Lita is being loved on and useful..

wow..it's coming together and I am so pleased. Next lesson is on Friday! I won't be able to watch that day but both mom's promised to take pictures~~I will have to share when I get over my dental woes.

I reckon this is what it is all about. I missed having laughing children on ponies, 20 years is way too long to go without that and trainer says both were very good today and said the little girl was actually answering questions with words today. Before it was a head shake yes or no and that was all she would do (and that has been the way of things since May).

I am a very happy old lady tonight. Having another child her age certainly opened her up. Neither child wanted to end the lesson so trainer had them practice leading and stopping and passing each other using ring etiquette. I am so pleased it seems to be working out for all involved.

Lita is so sweet, she just loves the little kids grooming her. I had the farrier out on Saturday and he reshod her and she was an angel. Stood so patient and never moved. Then yesterday I dewormed her..lol..just draped the lead over her neck and popped the wormer in and she was still quiet as a mouse.

I bought her some Moorglo Monday - it is made for senior horses and has flax, beet pulp, omegas and all that other good stuff and it even smells good! I add a scoop of that to her feed now so she will gain a little weight (doesn't need much but I do like them a bit fatter going into winter when they are seniors).

She's a doll and I WILL get pictures - I work until 4:30 and the children's lessons begin at 3:30 pm so I get there at the tail end unless I leave work early. Yesterday I did leave early so I could see..but forgot the camera..arrg..parents promised me pictures and as soon as I get them, I'll post them w/parents permission of course.

Lita and Bonnie are friends now..so I am happy about that - that pony is certainly a whizz at stealing feed..I have to lock her out of the paddock when feeding Tyranna or Lita..she convinces them she is simply starving..lol-yeah pony is getting roly poly!
