My DH and I have both grown up riding horses- he was a team roper & I was a pony clubber. We made quite the pair!

DH sort of dropped out of the horsey scene, while I kept riding. My current horse is a draft-cross & after seeing how much fun I am having, DH is now wanting to ride him in his old roping saddle. My riding partner is back!

My problem- the cinches on DH's saddle don't even come close to fitting. The biggest I can find readily available are 36"- not near big enough. What about western headstalls- none of our old cowpony gear is going to fit him.

While I am at it, what about english bridles? My current bridle justbarelyfits & I am definitely in the market for a new bridle.

Thanks!

I use brubachers in Canada for my husband's Draft Cross Western Saddle - they deal with drafts.

Any oversized english bridles should fit.

Goldie,
There are several great sources for draft tack. Most offer "small draft" equipment. drafttack.com is one we use regularly. Friends swear by draftsaddles.com. We use wintec Draft tree adjustable gullet saddles for our drafts and draft crosses.

You also may find that "OS Horse" bridles might fit your draft crosses. They are designed for warmbloods and are "over sized horses" tack.

We currently have an adoptable Shire mare in riding training who fits nicely in a warmblood/OS bridle, and a wintec draft tree with the narrowest draft gullet.

Hope this helps!

Ebay. lol.

One of my boarders is an 18 hand Perch x morgan (its in there somewhere..lol) and his owner found most of her tack on ebay. She also got her bridle at an amish tack shop (if you have them in your area) but you can also find them online i believe.

Also check out craigslist. :) never know what might be on there.

Saddle wise, Pike goes English out on trails and she uses a wintec adjustable. They also make treeless saddles ((I am planning on getting one of them. just havent done so as of yet).
