On September 8, I officially got a new horse!

He's a 15-year-old, 17H, TB named Precision Cast aka "Fuji" with the sweetest disposition and some great education under his belt.

For the past two years he was ridden by a petite Pony Clubber who was just a tad over-mounted and a bit intimidated by his size. As a result, he's pretty out of shape and needs a major tune up. He's also very thin so I have him on a weight gain plan. Within three weeks he's already looking better and his energy has picked up tremendously.

I tried him three times before committing and the last ride was just fabulous. I got the chance to school him on XC and he was the horse I was really hoping he'd be. He was forward, but polite. He cantered perfectly over a ditch, stepped up and down several banks like a gentleman, and then handled the Training bank/combo at Spring Run like a consummate professional.

Since my goal is really just a couple of Novice events next year, I may never need to break out that ammo, but it's nice to know he handles technical questions without even batting an eye.

After six long years of trying to fit a square peg (Mick) into a round hole (Eventing), this guy is a dream come true. Even better he's been sound every single day I've ridden him unlike Mick who could drain a bank account faster than you could say, "vet bill".

Here are pics showing his weight gain since I first brought him home.

Please feel free to critique anything and everything. Don't like the way he's put together? his color? his name? his age? Let me know! It's a done deal and won't change a thing, but I'm open to some Monday morning quarterbacking. ;)

Also, if anyone knows this horse and anything about his training/career from a few years back, I'd love to hear about it. He was at a barn in Ohio, had evented and foxhunted, but that's all I know. He's so nice and "correct" someone out there should be patting themselves on the back. I'm just thrilled to have the opportunity to fatten him up, love on him, and enjoy the ride.

Looks like you've really been pampering him in the short time you've owned him. I wish my boy would put on weight that well!

Great job and keep us posted

Awww, what a cutie! I'm so glad for you :) I definitely know what you mean about the square peg in a round hole - I remember commiserating with you a few years back about your Mick and my Mc! We had similar problems, if I recall. I'm not really in the market for a new horse right now (darn vet school!) so I've decided to do what my horse likes for now, but I'm sure someday I'll get another eventer!

Congratulations and good luck! :D

Good Job with him...He looks like a different horse! It's so nice to see well taken care of, spoiled rotten "ponies" :)
