My friend just purchased a new mare by Lord out of a Cor de la Bryere mare. Any stallion suggestions? Mare has competed in 1.40m classes, very competitive, fast, and the only thing I would change is carefulness and scope. She needs to be more careful (I like knee's to eyeballs) and needs more scope to clear those big wide oxers. Any suggestions or proven crosses with this pedigree?

you haven't given a pedigree; only two sires.
a direct daughter of lord? there are very few remaining.
so lord x corde then what? stam?
give the pedigree and it could be a very worthwhile and interesting discussion.

Is she lacking in scope and carefulness - because those are THE requirements of a jumper,
(and soundness) or are you looking for Hickstead-style scope and carefulness?

The mare is Lord x Cor de la Bryere x Fasolt x Heidefreund I. I will have to ask her owner about the stamm. When I say the mare needs to be more careful, I don't mean that she drops rails- in fact she rarely does. What I mean is that I have seen quite a few Lord offspring that don't tuck their knee's into their chest over fences, but rather dangle their front legs. (I had an AO horse with Lord bloodlines as well and her rails were always typically caused by the front end). I would like the foal out of this mare to hopefully jump more like for example Heartbreaker. I think the mare does have quite a bit of scope, but it never hurts to try and create more scope in the foal. I will have to take some pictures but she has superb conformation. Any thoughts/proven crosses would be wonderful to know about.

It's hard to say without seeing the mare and her shortcomings, etc. but Corde was supposed to have the best bascule ever and it comes through in his offspring time and again, so you might look for something with more Corde in it again for that knees to the eyeballs look, as in Cabardino. My mare has Corde two times (and Lord) and Cabardino would have made the offspring have it five times - !!
