This is too funny, but makes me now wonder if DW and I would be better off purchasing the organic cage free eggs at the market..lol.

So very true!

RR, if you are doing this to save money, forget it! If you are doing this for the endless entertainment that a flock of chickens provide, go for it! I love mine (even though they are getting to be a real pain these days with all of their demands... I can't go anywhere without them following me and asking for something.....)

I'd laugh except DH and I were discussing how much to price our eggs and he made a quip that was very similar. I think it may take a looooong time to break even.

That egg is definitely worth the great stories it comes with!

It keeps me in mind of my friend that has a few (successful) laying eggs. There were the hens that got out and killed by the dogs. The time she was on vacation and I was watching them - got there to find one hen out and chasing it around the farm with her one dog 'helping' me (she was more in the 'can we make chicken fingers?' frame of mind). The trouble with the goats.....
