So recently i've noticed that my gloves are slipping on my reins when they get wet.. and instead of going and buying brand new reins i was wondering if there was a glove that when it got wet got "tacky". Maybe that way my reins wouldn't slip as much.

I've heard mixed reviews about the SSG's and the Newmans (sp??).. so any personal experiences would be great.

TIA!

I've used SSGs for YEARS and love them - never had a problem when they get wet, as long as I'm using webbed reins.

I recently tried on a pair of "tacky" gloves and they felt AWFUL. I couldn't get the stick off my hands!

I've used Roeckls for years and I looooove them, but hate how fast they get worn. I bought RSL gloves this summer off a suggestion from this board and they're FANTASTIC! affordable ($25 for the pair I got), hardy, comfortable, and grip like the Roeckls!

I love anything with the equisuede palmside. SSGs and Ariats especially. They don't get tacky, they just keep a good grip and feel of the rein. Please say you have healthy rubber reins already.

I love the roeckls too - I've also been known to use my regular ariat gloves and wipe some sit-tite cream (http://www.smartpakequine.com/ProductClass.aspx?productClassId=5268) on them, that way I could control just how much sticky I wanted : )

Love the Ariats http://www.vtosaddlery.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATGG, but still ride XC in the really cheapy cotton ones with the nubbys http://www.saddlery.biz/products.asp?partno=S234BL I usually get a pile out of a sale basket somewhere for $3 or $4 bucks a pair and then wear until all worn out (usually go through 2-3 pairs in a busy season). I also use them for most lessons at home, xc schooling, etc

The Ariats are the one's i'm having issues with... though i LOVE Them for everyday riding, the second everything gets wet or damp the reins just slide through them.

my plan is to try and fix this w/gloves first - if not - new reins it is.

thanks!

I love love love my Bionic gloves. The show ones have a non-slip material between your ring and pinky fingers...perfect in wet conditions.

I love my Atlas gloves (http://www.horsetackco.com/images/atlasglove2.06.jpg). I first bought them from Stagecoach because I liked the lavender color, and they are pretty cheap, but then I found them at a local hardware store too. They also had them in black. They give you a good grip as well as a sensitive feel of the reins.
The only problem I've had is that I wear them too much and they get very stinky.
