I might have to go pick up a pony at Capital Challenge and transport him to Richmond. (I actually live in Charlottesville) On the way from Upper Marlboro to Richmond Goggle maps says the fastest way to go is I-95...ugh. I hate driving on 95 out of Washington even without a horse trailer. So I'm wondering... has anyone else done this route and would taking 301 be easier? It's longer in mileage but I don't want to be stuck in traffic on I-95. Last time I took 95 south out of Washington I sat in traffic for 3 hours before we even got to Fredericksburg.
Thanks!

I would think heading down Rt. 301 and then to 95 down by Kings Dominion would be easiest.

301 would be much easier - there are a lot of lights but I'd rather have lights than deal with 95 any day -- I often go up to Annapolis from Richmond cutting through Fort AP Hill, over the Nice Bridge and 301 all the way up to Rt 50 (goes right by Upper Marlboro) takes me about 3.5 hours but its relaxing drive, no tractor trailers running up your butt and some nice scenary too boot
