Very, Very sad, what a wonderful horse. Stamina, soundness and heart, yes a super nice horse.

Wow. :(

I may be wrong, but wasn't Alysheba brought in to 'replace' John Henry, and then didn't Kona Gold come to replace Alysheba?

Oh I am so sad, he was one of my favorites!

Loved his come from behind running style with 150 % heart - if you were watching the race on tv he wouldn't even be on the screen til they turned for home and then he would be right there pressing the leaders - if you blinked, you would miss it!

I remember seeing Victory Gallop at Colonial Downs early in his career - put $$ on him because he was a Crypto baby - was not dissapointed !

RIP

Damn. He was one of my favorites back in the day. :(

He's got a facebook fan page! With some of his best races. Remember Lustra, his rabbit?

KONA GOLD (Java Gold), winner of the 2000 Eclipse Award as champion sprinter, was humanelyeuthanized today :(:sadsmile: severe fracture to his left front leg while exercising in his paddock. He was 15 years old.http://www.thehorse.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ID=14974

I was so sad to hear of Crypto's passing. He seemed like an amazing stallion, and I know well how incredibly he passed on his heart, grit and determination, and his kind nature. I owned a daughter of his, and not only did she look just like him, she had that same drive and willingness to work with an underlying kind nature.
He is a sire line that will truly be missed.

What a sad week!! I lost my 26yr old TB gelding on Wednesday. He was my best friend and the love of my life. I was there when he took his first breath and there when he took his last.

Maybedog - what an example of an owner you are!

I know we are sad to hear of their deaths, Summer Squall, Cryptoclearance, Kona Gold, but all were treasured all their days. So many are not.
