I'm curious to hear from those who have worked with State of the Art babies about what their temperaments have been like. Of course I understand there are a thousand variables, but I'm wondering if there is any sort of consensus on what they tend towards? Feel free to respond here or PM me. Thanks :)

The first horse I saw born at Flying Colors was by State of the Art. (before I had my own stallions) He is gorgeous, confomfortable and VERY smart. He rides like a TB, but his dam was a TB too......who won on the line at Devon!
Around the barn he is Dennis the Menace......a LOT of personality, but into mischief constantly! He's very expressive and let's you know what he's thinking and wanting......I don't think he's ever bucked.
He's never been a mean, or mean spirited horse and loves attention...(demands it, haha) I've done many disiplines with him (h/j, eventing, lower dressage and even 3' jumpers), and he excelled in them all! He's very athletic. He's safely carried me foxhunting all over the country, but does like to be in front!
I have seen State of the Art in person several times as well as Sempatico once. To be honest, when I saw them, I liked State of the Art better!

I had a State of the Art gelding that I foaled and raised until he was 4. He was out of a Hanoverian/TB mare that competed in eventing. He had an absolutely fantastic temperament. His only vice was that he hated being alone in the barn but when being ridden it was no problem.
I am no professional and I broke him myself. He was/is one of those horses that never offered to buck or rear, very honest over fences, and if he didn't know what you wanted he tried his hardest to figure it out. First ride was in an outdoor (with no fence around it) and by the end he was trotting around like an old pro. I did a fair amount of ground work before I backed him though.
First horse show, no joke, I was putting his bridle on just as they started to water the ring...with a FIRETRUCK shooting water from the road UP INTO THE AIR and into the ring. We were standing about 100 yards away and all he did was look up at the water like "what the...???" He was such an old pro (as a 4 y.o.) at his first 2 horse shows (the only 2 I did with him) that he took home Champion and Reserve at his first show (jumping 2'-2'3") and Champion at his second show...and that was before he learned his changes!
He was/is very sweet, just loved attention and pampering (and he needed alot of it as he was 90% white!). If I liked color I would consider using State of the Art again.

Pics of him can be seen on my Sold page: http://www.northhillfarmny.com/Sold.html

Silly Mommy here has a cute little SOTA mare - Panda - whom you could find on YouTube I'm sure.

NorthHill, funny about the water truck :) I have a Pikor gelding who did about the same thing as a 3yo - could hardly have cared less about the water truck :)

Flying Hearts... maybe try Claim To Fame... Flying Colors has some wonderful offspring and they have to be amateur friendly to be in her program!

I had one years ago and she had a fantastic temperament and is a very versatile horse.

I do agree with SilverBalls about Claim to Fame. We have 2 at our house now (a foal and a riding horse) bot are the sweetest animals, great movers and GORGEOUS!!! One is pinto and the other is black.
