My sister had a small scar that turned "keloid" - in her case because it got sun on it before it completely healed, and it ended up very protruding and obvious, when it started as just a small scar. Actually, I have a small scar on my face that gets very sensitive and tender if I sunburn my face. I try to remember to cover it with a dab of sunscreen.
Is your scar where the sun gets on it a lot? I don't know if it can be fixed without surgery at this point (my sister had hers cut out and restitched, then was careful to protect it afterwards and it's been fine).

It is on my left shoulder....in where I always where t-shirts, but I think while it was healing I wore "tanks" because it hurt to have the material rub. :( DARN IT!!
After researching it looks like surgery will be the option.
I did'nt know if it was caused from the horse bite---(bacteria)
Sigh. looks gross, HATE IT and won't wear strapless ever because of it. :( ICK!

I have one on my left upper arm (Thanks Flurry!). NO keliods but you can see a semi circle and the sub structure feels different then the surrounding skin. This bite happened about 15 years ago, I think I'll have it for life. It didn't get infected, that I recall, although I may very well have been given antibiotics at the time.

My old horse grabbed me from behind, lifted me up by the skin on my back/shoulder (I'm 5'2" and weighed about 90lb at the time). Had a nasty bruise and ripped all the skin off in about a 4inchx4inch area. Thankfully it was painful but not too deep, mine left a lovely butterfly-shaped scar but luckily it is almost completely disappeared (well it took a couple of years). If you cleaned up your bite after it happened and applied topical antibiotic regularly I bet it was caused by the sun, it can do terrible things to healing skin.
I hope you find some way to take care of it and can wear strapless again!

Bites that resulted in scars: 2
#1 in the fold of my armpit - DH told me if Vern had been 2" to the left he would have been in Major Trouble - healed fine to a small crescent shape that shows in sleeveless tops but WTH, I'm not looking for a modeling contract....
#2 is the tip of my left index finger "rearranged" so it is twisted about 20 degrees off center. Nail grew back but is kinda funky too. The only scarring is from the place stitched together on the fingertip itself
Bites resulting in Technicolor Bruises: Too Many to Count
Most memorably:
-the one on my thigh from Witchy Mare DH was riding who was trying to nail my horse and got me. I was maddest about the rip in the new breeches I was wearing, and it resulted in a horse-mouth-shaped bruise that was most interesting in shorts
-upper arm - TYVM Vern - that swelled so I looked like a one-sided Schwarzenegger for about a week

I was at the track, spraying off a young colt after he trained, and when the spray was directed at man-land, he took offense and chomped down on my right index finger. 6 years or so later, finger is permanently deformed, bent down at a 45 degree angle.
Hardly my only bite, but the one I still carry. Worst bite was years ago when a big filly flew from the back of her stall and nailed me on my left shoulder. I could feel the muscle ripping. Took my breath away for a bit. For about a month my entire under arm was a rainbow and, because it was summer and I wear tanks and such, it was quite a conversation starter. Non-horse people were horrified!
