Does anyone have any experience with Apiro offspring? Curious about temperment, conformation trends, movement trends etc.

We have one this year out of a Trakehner/TB mare. He was 2nd in the Other-than-TB Foals at Warrenton this year, very nice modern type (mare is very light boned and feminine), extremely good mover though the dam was always the hack winner - however, Apiro added some bone which was needed, and a lot more elasticity to the movement. The colt is a top hunter mover with lots of reach, elasticity and very flat kneed.

The foals looks very consistent with the pictures you'd see on SilverCreek's site. He seems to be stamping them with recognizable qualities. Pretty head, long neck with great topline, very correct in the legs, etc. He is very sweet too, the dam is on the sensitive side so I wouldn't say he's brain dead (which isn't always a blessing) but he's certainly quiet, smart and easy to handle and a definite improvement on the dam. :) It was a very good cross, Gold Premium at RPSI inspection and Otto encouraged us to repeat the breeding.

Thank you Signature for that information. I am going to give Apiro a try in 2010 with my mare by Balta Czar. I have spent months researching to try to make a good decision and your information gives me peace of mind because I also need the added bone and suspension from Apiro. I am very excited about the cross. Adelmo95, I had spoken with Barbara from Silver Creek and she said that Apiro could be an amateur horse because he's so quiet as long as the rider could keep up with his nice round jump. He throws quiet foals as well. Anyone else that has anything to add would be wonderful to hear from you.

My TB mare Pavones had a colt by Apiro last April. He has a wonderful disposition. At his GOV inspection Holly and MO had great comments on his conformation and long overstriding walk and very nice uphill trot. She said it was especially good as he was butt high at the time. He received a premium and was given the " Foal of Distinction" award.

My mare is very fine and he added bone. He really seems to stamp his
offspring and I would not hesitate to breed back to him in the future.

You can see him on the Silvercreek website under Apiro progeny for sale.

Word on the street is that they are very nice foals with good attitudes. And they are also pretty fancy! :)

We have bred a different mare to him this year so are very excited to see what we get. We will likely use him every year, as pleased as we are with this and his other foals. I like to see that consistency, so you can have some reasonable expectation of what you might get. :)

Our '09 colt by Apiro is fantastic. He has a wonderful temperament and is a lovely mover, receiving a Premium award at his GOV inspection. Apiro added substance and improved on our mare's topline and hindquarters. Photos can be seen on our website on the foals page. We will definitely use Apiro again. :D

ASBJumper, Thank you so much. She has been very special. Talk about personality plus! She is to be the beginning of what I hope to be a very promising breeding program. Her dam is a TB mare who once stood at Iron Spring Farm and is now retired. I was very pleased with the cross to Balta Czar.

I did hear there were some Apiro foals at Warrenton but was so busy, I didn't get a chance to watch them...maybe there was only one. I am not sure.

TWFarm. Your colt is breathtaking. I love him!

Thanks everyone for the information, I have spent a lot of time looking at his offspring on SilverCreek's website but was hoping to hear people's first hand experience with them in terms of temperment as well as he certainly stamps his offspring with a look I like, so it is good to hear that their temperments are also good.

I don't own an Apiro baby but my friend just bought one and she is the sweetest thing. She is very people oriented and calm about everything, nothing really fazes her. She loves to stand and be brushed and fussed over. She got off a 3 day haul across the country like it was nothing and then made herself at home.

My friend is beyond pleased.

Very excited to say I pick this beauty up on Saturday. Shauna Campbell gets full credit for this exceptional breeding of Apiro to Aurora Regina (TB.) This is "Aubrey."

JB, he's a boy. I'm so accustomed to people thinking Quinn's a boy and now I need to say Aubrey IS a boy.

dbtoo- I think maybe your friend is the one who bought my Apiro filly? She is in Arizona now! So glad to here she is doing well!

I had two Apiro fillies this year and I loved them! My last one was just shipped to Florida yesterday and the big semi horse rig came to pick her up and she was soooo good. She just followed my right on and stood nicely while they put the box stall up, not nervous at all. The shippers couldn't get over how good she was.

I think Apiro throws a nice mind on his foals as well as good bone and beautiful heads and necks. I think he improved my mare's movements also. I tried breeding one mare back to him this year and she didn't take....so hopefully next year she will. :D

Awww...Quinn, I am SO thrilled that you bought Aubrey. He's been outstanding from the day he was born and I couldn't be happier than to have one of my babies with you.

Needless to say, I was very, very happy with my Apiro colt in 2009! He looked very mature from an early age, is very sweet and correct and will make a terrific show horse in the future. I can't wait to see him grow up. :)

Quinn - Aubrey is breathtaking! I hope that you plan on showing him on the line! If I planned on breeding again my two choices would be either Apiro or Cabardino. I absolutely love the jump on both of those stallions!

Gosh, well...I dunno where my filly came from, then!:D We bred our TB mare by Waquoit xx to Apiro & while both offspring by this dam have been blessed with lovely temperaments & are brave & willing, April looks nothing like her dam, or 1/2 brother (by Coromino) who is tall, elegant, thick boned, long neck, great top line, etc., although she is far more flashy than he.

April is a sweet tempered natural athlete with brains. By far the barn favourite and a people magnet like I've never seen. She's ballsy, flashy, athletic, responsive & loving, graceful, sensible, opinionated, interactive, happy natured...the list goes on. The point of this...I know, I'm long winded!!:lol::yes:...we are nuts about her...she is everything and a bag of chips and if she (& the reports above) are any indication of what Apiro produces, you cannot be dissapointed! BUT she looks nothing like Apiro to me. She seems a dead ringer for his sire & grandsire in terms of conformation i.e. thick, shorter neck, small but beautiful head, great shoulder, stout torso, etc. April also doesn't seem to be specifically thicker boned than her dam. Here are pics to demonstrate:

We have a yearling Apiro gelding. He is stunning (well...OK...he's a yearling so stunning might be an overstatement, lol)...but he will be back to stunning someday as he was a gorgeous foal. He was Gold Premium at his foal inspection. His dam is a Palladio x TB cross that is on the lighter side. Our colt is also lighter boned, very elegant, with a pretty head. Our little guy has been pretty shy to bring along but looks to be growing out of it really well...no idea where that came from as both sire, dam, and damsire are really nice...just a shy kid I suppose. He looks like he's going to be a nice flat mover and have a lovely neck. Honestly I'm surprised I still have him. I tried pricing him low to move him since I'm pregnant and I think I made people think there is something wrong with him...ahh well...won't break my heart if he stays here to grow up...he's a cutie! We would definitely use him again but I would probably pick a heavier mare as I personally like a little more bulk. Someone bought a Palladio broodmare from me and I recommended Apiro or Landwerder for that mare...she's due next year to Apiro...can't wait to see it.

I also have a 2009 Apiro baby. Armani is absolutely stunning! He is out of our Popeye K mare so we definitely expect him to be a Hunter. I really couldn't have asked for better. Great conformation, sound mind, inquisitive, curious, etc... Oh and he's going to be a big tall strapping boy, methinks.

I have one picture of him on our website - http://www.riverglen-farm.com/horses.cfm

First one on the page, click on the picture to enlarge. We can't wait to see what this boy does in the show ring...
