FEI World Games: Freestyle night..

Hi folks,

A few eventing buddies and I are going to make the trip to KY and were thinking of getting tix for Freestyle night.. can someone give me insight into how many horses (roughly) will be preforming? Or an average from past games? I had trouble finding info online.. thanks!

I sincerely hope you are prepared for sticker shock when you find out the cost of the tickets and hotel rates, etc. I attended the WEG's at Aachen and it was a fraction of what they are charging for Kentucky.

I think the top 20 horses move on to the Freestyle, but I could be wrong. You should see at least 10-12, at most 20. Probably more like 12.

Good to know...I bought tickets today. They were $$, but I live in the area and don't have to pay for a hotel.

There used to be twelve and then they increased it to fifteen. The new FEI dressage task force has been proposing some changes but I'm not sure if they are for the WEG or just the Olympics. The proposal I saw would include the GPS in the team scores.

I'll admit I'm not a fan of freestyles but I find only the top five, if that many, really worth watching. Sitting at H for the GP and/or GPS is my idea of a great dressage education. Perhaps because I don't have the best eye, I love being able to compare the same sections of the test.

Aachen is not the World Equestrian Games and my friend just got hotel room for $200 a night which is reasonable.

All events on the same property in the same two weeks(no)? I don't think $200.00 a night is out of line especially when post people will be splitting it with several people.

Aachen's show is held in July. WEG is held in the Fall.

Ridgeback - HELLO - the WEG'S were held in Aachen in 2006. I KNOW there is also an Aachen Dressage show. Obviously your the one who is uninformed.

Not sure what hotel your friend found for $200 a night - most are quoting much higher than that - average around $500.

Nope not uninformed because KY will be the FIRST WEG that holds ALL the events on the same PROPERTY..... Maybe you're uninformed about the hotels? My friend called the 800 number that is handling it and got a room for $200.00 bucks a night one exit north of the horse park...

P.S. DUH Aachen holds huge dressage and jumping shows I'm talking about WEG and the fact one facility is hosting ALL the disciplines. kinda like the Olympics....

RIDGEBACK ARE YOU DENSE? The WEG'S are held every four years - the 2006 WEG's were held in Aachen - they had Dressage, Show Jumping, 3 Day eventing, Vaulting, Reining, Driving and Endurance. Stop acting like you know everything when obviously you don't. I was there - it was the 2006 WORLD EQUESTIONS GAMES. AND IT WAS ALL ON THE SAME PROPERTY. They used the Farms adjacent to the Aachen show grounds for the 3 Day cross country. And the 2014 WEG'S will be in Normandy France. Before you keep telling me I don't know what I'm talking about get your facts straight.

AND DUH - it is like the Olympics but the Olympics move to different sites every 4 years as well. Aachen does have large Annual Dressage and Jumping Shows but they take place in the SPRING.

Wow I'm laughing at how upset you get over things... Breathe it's really not that big of a deal. By the way $200 a night for a room isn't that expensive. If people can't find a room pm me my friend might end up staying at my house and will have their room available for 4 days during the Cross Country.

Well Ridgeback - read your own posts - where you state that the WEG'S were NOT at Aachen.

A friend has tickets for the Dressage at Kentucky for the Dressage but for reasons no one can explain they scheduled to Dressage at the WEG'S to overlap Dressage at Devon. So for those of us who may have horses competing at DAD it's a conflict. I cannot understand why they made this schedule conflict when the DAD dates are known years ahead of time. I have an offer of free tickets to the Show Jumping and may fly out for those.

And as far as a single venue - well I guess he believes continguous land isn't a single venue. I've heard so many nightmares about these WEG games and so many people have quit working on it - good solid people who know how to stage horse events. Vendors we spoke to at DAD said they wouldn't be able to go there due to the horrendously high fees they are charging - $17,000 for a 10x10 space!

And from what we've heard you will NOT be able to buy tickets at the games. At Aachen we had our dressage tickets before we made the trip but did purchase 3Day tickets at the event - same for show jumping. I hope Kentucky is successful but the costs are much higher and I'm sure a significant # of tickets will be people from Europe coming in and taking advantage of the exchange rate.
