I bought this horse about a year and a half ago as a 3 yo. to bring along as a fancy hunter prospect. He free jumps beautifully, is a nice mover, and absolutely stunning to look at. He is a TB, but never raced and looks like a warmblood cross. He is green broke, has a natural lead change, and is the sweetest horse in the barn.
So, now you're probably wondering why he is free! We have started him a few times over the past year, and as he gets in consistent work for a couple weeks, or has one particularly tough day, he will come up slightly stiff/sore right hind. Once he looks a little bit off, I give him a couple weeks and start again - with basically the same result each time. The vet has taken every x-ray you can imagine, and there is nothing on the xrays to indicate he has any problem.
Our vet came up with 2 guesses: 1) He's a "weenie" - meaning that something very insignificant is bothering him more than it should or 2) He is still growing and will mature out of whatever this problem is. I believe he will mature out of this - he is still growing and should top out close to 17h. Unfortunately, I already have 2 other horses, and it's a bit of a strain financially to keep another one around that isn't currently doing anything.
I'm posting him here on the chance that someone can take him, give him a nice happy year of turnout to grow up, and then hopefully have a very fancy horse on their hands at the end of the day. I'm really just hoping to find him a good home, and am not interested in any horse traders or people looking to flip him quickly. This horse is truly special, and for someone who has some extra space and time, it could be a real find.
Thanks for reading!
