My neighbor for 5 years has taken my manure with his tractor and made a huge compost pile. He cannot take anymore manure so I'm in the market for a used utility vehicle with a dump so I can take manure to far end of pasture for my own compost pile. Recommendations?

We have the John Deere Gator 4x4 with the power dumping bed, and snow plow attatchment. We love it. It beats lugging wheel barrels of manure through soggy pastures, is great for carrying 6 bales of hay at a time, feed, buckets tack etc. We had originally bought it with the manual dump but soon found out with a full load of manure no one could left up the bed and we ended up having to shovel it back out onto the pile. So if you get the gator power dump, power plow! We have it without the cage or enclosed seating.

Ah... how nice would that be?? We've always just used a cheapo $100 yard cart that attaches to the back of the lawnmower lol. One day...

We have a Kubota RTV 900. We actually have a couple of tractors and a manure spreader but the dump bed sure comes in handy for other things! I love my little utility vehicle and don't know how I would live without it. We also have a Gator but teh Kubota is so much better. When it dies it will be replaced with another Kubota, not a Gator.

Thanks for the info - I'll have to find a good used one, which ever is the best deal. I don't have snow but it is supposed to be a wet Winter so I think I'll need 4 wheel drive.

We have this gator here and have used the heck out of it, hardly use the pickup any more, unless we are hauling very large, heavy stuff:

We were using a friend's Mule and it was maybe a better vehicle, the gator feels like a toy, but the Mule was much rougher across the pastures.
We cleared many acres of cholla cacti and the electric dump bed for clean up at the end saved much time and labor.
We use our gator to haul the manure spreader, to pull the welding wagon, to haul hay, you can't even imagine what all those little handy dandy machines do.

We can check cattle with it, carrying posts and wire and tools to rebuild watergaps, when it rains and it is too muddy for pickups.
Some ranches don't even have horses any more, use only 4 wheeles of all kinds to check and work cattle.

If you only have to move the manure to the pile and not much more, you may be better off with one of those little carts you can pull with the mower or pickup.

we're using it to remove the peat/topsoil from our low paddock--hauling it to lawn we're putting in around ew house-2 birds 1 stone--Its great for manure removal from said paddock--Im making sure aisles in not-yet built barn will accomodate so can clean directly into it--hubby did add high sides to increase load--but this required higher lift of manure fork or loading from end only--easier without high-sides.
Delivers hay around acreage.carries paint supplies around fence, will plow snow if we add blade (have tractor for that though)

as soon as removal of nasty slop toplayer is done willuse to haul peastone to create drylot and gravel "ditches" to help with better drainage--

Also takes family and supplies to bacck for picnic/marshmallow roast and hopefully retrieves dear soon (hunting season)

Basically using it far more than ever anticipated

We use an electric EZ-GO Workhorse. It's awesome! A LOT cheaper than the Gator and Mule.
It is a manual dump, we don't have any problem dumping it. It hauls 6 bales of hay with no problem.
Best thing about it, as far as I am concerned, is that it is silent running and doesn't have any exhaust.

They sell some like that very cheap, compared with gas engine ones, at our local TSC.
You may see if they have some used ones.
