I have a teen mare with heaves. She has one of cases where hormones play a big deal on her condition thus keeping her in foal all the time is a good thing for her.

First pregnancy went perfect for both - mare and foal, foal is 4 mo old now and mare is in the second pregnancy already, and looks really good. But I'm worried how the endless pregnancies in long term will affect her overall condition.

So my question for breeders who had mares foaling each year - what supplements/feed would be the best in such a situation to keep mare in perfect condition.

The good thing is that mare is worth breeding and I already have a buyer for the next year's foal, but I just worry how it will affect her in a long term.

If I remember correctly one of the biggest issues with any mammal that spends most of its life pregnant is calcium loss. I read that mammals cannot absord calcium while they are lactacting or pregnant, so it's key to support them between foalings. Wish I could recall more!

Thank you! That is exactly the type of info that I need - if I will know what to search for, I will do it by myself! Thank you a lot!

I kept my broodies on regular Dynamite supplement formula and Breeder Pac, also from Dynamite.

My mares got in foal reliably on one insemination for years.
