Does anyone know the shelf life on the E-5000 by Vitaflex? I only ask because I was at the local feed store today and they have a 2lb container of it for $30 which is obviously, either priced wrong or is an older container. I didn't see an expiration date or a manufacture date on it and would hate to pass up such a great price if it's still good.

I believe the Vitaflex vit e is the synthetic rather than the natural vit e.
there are studies which document that synthetic is not as easily absorbed in the horse as natural vit e. just an fyi

And because it is synthetic, it has a longer shelf life. I have never seen an expiration date on the vitaflex E5000, so I would buy it and feed it - maybe at a slightly larger amount than what is recommended by your vet to make up for the efficacy loss.

It seems like the vitaflex vitamin E5000 has tripled in price! I was happy to get a 10lb pail for $120. I am thinking of getting the smartpak vitamin E, and yes they do have a natural one as well - but I have to watch the pocket book!

Thanks for the info! I emailed Vita Flex to double check. I've fed the Natural E by Smartpak before. I just figured I could nail a heck of a deal if this stuff was still good:lol: Of course, if any of it would be absorbed is of course more important.
