I am trying to schedule a very packed day on the day of inspections. Could anyone give me a rough idea of what time the inspections usually start and how long they take? I know it probably differs by site, but even guestimates would help. FWIW, this will be the third and final inspection by ISR/Old in TX and the other two sites didn't appear to have a ton of entries (less than 6 colts & less than 6 fillies)...

The inspection is about 2 hours from our farm. We are taking 3 mares and a colt. Is it ridiculous to think that we could possibly be home by 4pm?

Thank you for any input!!

Most inspections I've been to begin at 8am and try to be over before the heat of the day (Tx, like FL is miserable for everyone by 2pm). As you noted, the duration of the inspection depends on the entries, but I don't think you'd be totally off your rocker to think you could be home by 4... I wouldn't count on it, but I wouldn't call you crazy.

It really depends on when the inspector gets there. I was at the one in Houston doing the MPT. It started at 11 - but I don't think Helmut got there until a bit after that as his flight got in about 10:30. So it really didn't get started until almost noon by the time we did paperwork.

The two MPT candidates had their in hand inspections, then we headed over to the jump chute, then they looked at more mares while we got ready for the MPT under saddle part, and then after the MPT u/s, they did the mares with foals. If you have a 2-hour drive you MIGHT be home by 4 if there is no MPT AND if your inspection starts in the a.m. I think I was pulling out of the inspection site around 4 p.m. BUT I did not have to stay for branding.

There were 14 horses including mares/foals and MPT candidates at the inspection.
