View Full Version : Schneider's Fly sheets... Fit? Quality?

Schneider's is always good quality, but am wondering about the fit of their fly sheets. I think of Schneider's for more full-bodied horses, and the horse in question is a slim TB. Not paper-thin, just not that wide through shoulders, etc. He wears an 81" Rambo turnout and stable sheet, but then again, Rambo seems to have the knack of fitting any build horse.
Would a Schneider's fly sheet fit this type of horse? What do people think? Thanks much.

I have a Schneiders fly sheet. It is actually pretty lean on my TB mare. It's an 81 and length is good, shoulder good, but if she were fatter, it would be too small. She is 17H, long and wears a 52 girth, rather slab sided, but deep.

I have two.. the quality is excellent - not a rip or tear in either one this year. I did order one size too big for each OTTB - I figured at some point they will fill out. So they are a bit large right now.

This year I tried the belly band, as opposed to the criss cross under the legs type. The belly band sheet constantly slides and ends up with the top of the sheet on the horse's side. It does fit well otherwise, so it is odd. And of course it is wearing like IRON.
But I loved the criss cross type (just wish I would have bought that instead).

The soft white mesh ones are very good and have lasted me several years, plus sweat horses the least on hot sunny days. You can sew them up if ripped, vs the texilene (sp?) which are a PITA to try and repair. I like my light blue mosquito mesh sheet, it is a belly band and does slide over, but it is tough and only puckers where rubbed hard. Definately need to buy one or two sizes up for the mosquito mesh sheets - they run quite small.

I don't know about the Schneider's sheets, but TurtleNeck makes a fly sheet that is made of fishing line that has been heat sealed together, and it comes with a 1-year guarantee. I am going to try one of those since my horse has destroyed his mosquito sheet from SLT.
And IME, all of the bellyband sheets shift a lot. My SLT ends up all sorts of crooked.
