We were at a show this weekend and noticed a child showing with a chest protector on in a hunter class and was wondering why this isn't more of a trend with either small children or older adults.

I don't know but my 8 year old shows dressage in hers. I won't let her ride without it at her age. For those just in case moments. She fell off this spring and landed under the horse (not hers but a friends) and the horse is such a good horse that he knew she was there and jumped his back feet over her. It terrified me. She did have her chest protector on at the time but still it was to scary.

aka: cross country or riding vest
I'm not a child, and I'm not an older adult and I wear my vest 80% of the time.
100% of the time on unknown horses.
70% of the time on well known horses that are not mine.
And often on my own horses if I'm jumping or doing canter/gallop sets.
I've slowly started a trend in the neighborhood where I train. Quite a few of the lil ones sport vests now...as well as some of the adults!
You can find them for 90-100 bucks if you search.
